Classic Monster Roulette Challenge
We’re getting back to the classics this Halloween in AnthroCommunity … and of course we mean classic MONSTERS! Let’s make anthro versions of some of the most famous monsters in Hollywood Halloween history, with a little twist: use the outline below to find out the type of monster you should create based on the month and day of your birthday …
Pick the MONSTER that matches your birth month:
January / February = Demon
March / April = Frankenstein’s Monster
May / June = Ghost
July / August = Vampire
September / October = Witch
November / December = Zombie
Pick the ANIMAL that matches your birth day:
1 - 5 = Bat
6 - 10 = Cat
11 - 15 = Rat
16 - 20 = Raven
21 - 25 = Snake
26 - 31 = Wolf
Use your birthday to determine which type of Classic Anthro Monster you will create. For example, someone born on February 13, would create a Demon Rat anthro character … someone born on July 25 would create a Vampire Snake anthro character … so, what are you? Once you figure out

Feature: Writing tutorials + undiscovered art by BeckyKidus, journal
Feature: Writing tutorials + undiscovered art
It is time to feature more tutorials and undiscovered art! :dummy:
As usual, the feature will be divided into two parts. The first part includes tutorials on how to design characters and creatures, and the second part is a selection of artwork I’ve discovered recently with fewer than 50 favourites.
Previous features are linked at the bottom of the journal, and I post a new feature each month on my profile, usually around the 15th :la:
This month, we'll focus on an art form which can be a bit hidden on DA, namely writing. There are a lot of good stories, fan fiction and poetry out there, though - as well as some excellent tutorials on writing!
First, we'll start with... well, story writing. @illuminara and @OokamiKasumi start us off by giving some tips on how to start writing in general, as well as giving some beginner tips. illuminara also has an enlightening guide on how to write your first draft, and then @MomoPoms gives some great advice on how to write good fanfiction

"Autumn shows us how beautiful it is to let things go."
THE CHANGE IN SEASON
Autumn in the wilderness unfurls like a grand symphony, each leaf a delicate note in nature's orchestral embrace. The forests, once brimming with summer's vibrancy, now glow with the burnished hues of gold, amber, and crimson, as if kissed by the setting sun.
The air, crisp and invigorating, carries the sweet scent of pine and earth, mingling with the whisper of wind through the changing foliage of trees and brush alike. Every step upon the soft, mossy ground is a pilgrimage, a journey through nature's temple, where the stillness of the season invites contemplation and wonder.
In the quietude of autumn, the mountains stand sentinel, their peaks dusted with the first snow of winter's approach, while the valleys below are blanketed in the soft, golden light of shortening days. The rivers, once roaring with the snow-melt of spring, now flow gently, mirroring the vibrant tapestry of the canopy above. Here

Fan Art Friday: Blue Eye Samurai
Blue Eye Samurai on Netflix is a visually striking animated series with a gripping storyline, unique characters, and powerful themes like identity, honour, and vengeance.
Set in Edo-era Japan, the eponymous blue-eyed samurai, Mizu, embarks on a relentless quest for vengeance. In a society that values purity and conformity above all else, the mixed-race Mizu is an outcast, experiencing deep-rooted prejudice and abuse at every turn. Demonised by society, Mizu's insatiable need for revenge against those responsible for her origin begins to threaten her very humanity.
This week's Fan Art Friday feature pays tribute to Mizu's unforgettable journey - her strength, determination, and vulnerability - with some amazing fan art created by the community.
An artist gives all they have to the art, the whole. Your strengths and deficiencies, your loves and shames. Perhaps the people you collected. - The Swordfather

Worms by LipsterLeo, literature

Worms
A drabble, 100 word story, based on this image. Writers' Digest contest.
Tobacco was our cash crop. The livelihood of Beauford County. It paid our farm and home mortgages.
Until the worms came.
No one knows from where. One day the crops were flourishing, the next, dead. Worms the type never seen before. Or since. Ugly, huge, green, with mouths big enough to swallow a rat whole. Tobacco is poisonous to insects. The worms thrived on it.
“Aliens!” Uncle Claude declared.
“Nonsense,” we told him. “Ain’t no such thing.”
But for the first time far back as we could remember, the crops failed. And that is why we lost the farm.

I remembered a comic I read online.
It was years back I found it
Years back I first got hooked
Hell it was before I even started writing
It was one of the first comics I found online
Still among the best ones I ever saw
And it’s still unfinished
Left in limbo for years now.
Untouched
But hey. Life happens
The author’s still around at least
Doing other stuff.
But for me
That comic was a gateway
A gateway towards stories
Towards people and and more
To me that comic truly was
