Celebrating Deviousness - June 2023 by team, journal
Celebrating Deviousness - June 2023
The Deviousness Award is given to one deviant each month in recognition of their exemplary contributions to DeviantArt and its community and has been a long-standing tradition since DeviantArt’s early years. @LualaDy is the recipient of June 2023’s Deviousness Award, so please join us in congratulating her! @LualaDy has been a community rockstar for a very long time, and her long-standing work to promote other artists and ensure their work gets seen by a wider audience is near-unmatched. She has posted art features on a daily basis for multiple years—some days posting more than one feature at a time—while also running groups that feature even more artwork. For her continuous dedication to the artists of the DeviantArt community, we are proud to name @LualaDy the recipient of the Deviousness Award for June 2023. Hi! Hello, it's me. I do stuff. Sometimes. Sometimes I don't. I draw, paint, crochet, knit, write, and take photos. And I do maths! I'm pretty good at maths. Oh, and I sew
Requested improvements to Adoptables offers by team, journal
Requested improvements to Adoptables offers
Adoptables sellers can now select when their sale period will start, and offers now display in the right sidebar on the deviation page for easier tracking and offering! Adoptables launched as a beta feature in March, and in response to community feedback, the DeviantArt team has been working on improvements to make the feature more efficient. Two improvements have just been released, and you can try them out now! New Sale Duration Options Previously, when an adoptable was listed as accepting offers, the sale duration would start immediately when the seller completed the listing process. Now when you list an adoptable with the “accept offers” option, you can still set 24 or 48 hours as the sale duration period, but you can also choose between two settings to determine when that period starts: The sale duration starts immediately after you list the adoptable for sale, or The sale duration starts after the first offer is placed. When a seller selects the second option, the adoptable

Search in favourites is back! by team, journal
Search in favourites is back!
Search through your most-loved deviations with ease! Search in favourites is back by popular demand! Click on the magnifying glass at the top right of your favourites page (or someone else’s) to search for specific artwork you love. DeviantArt’s search systems were upgraded in 2022, at which point the difficult decision was made to phase out search in favourites, which was dependent on a legacy search system that was prohibitively costly to maintain considering its usage rate. Although search in favourites was used by just 0.5% of the active community, it was well-liked and used often by the most active deviants. Seeing the passionate response from the community in the wake of its removal, the DeviantArt team worked to upgrade the system that powers search in favourites to improve its efficiency and make it less costly to maintain, and now it’s ready for you to use. Happy searching! Search Your Favourites

Feature: Drawing Humans and Undiscovered Art
This curated feature is brought to you by @BeckyKidus It’s May, and people who follow me know I’m in the middle of a feature series showcasing tutorials and undiscovered artwork. The first part of this feature includes tutorials related to drawing human figures, and the second part is a selection of artwork I’ve discovered recently with fewer than 50 favourites. I post a feature like this once a month, on or around the 15th. If you’d like to see more features like this, previous features I’ve put together are linked at the bottom of this journal. I hope you're able to make use of these great tutorials and enjoy beautiful art you may not have seen! Tutorials: How to Draw Humans Drawing humans can be complex, so to keep things simple, I’ve broken this tutorial feature down into sections. The first section covers general body proportions, and the sections that follow will cover heads, faces, hands, and feet. Proportions To start, @Anastasia-berry created references covering basic

Deux paires d'yeux (Two pairs of eyes)

Run
I run. I was born in the dawn, Pale child of the sun, Like my father before me Holding ash in my lungs, Like my mother, my sister, And their pyroclast veins, Until I tasted the ocean And the salt sang my name. So I ran. I ran to the north, To the emerald fields, To the bogs and the heather Of a land wounded deep, Where the streams are elegies, Where the mountains lament Their sons and their daughters Lives heedlessly spent. I heard songs on the marshes, So sweet that I drowned Under rains that fell endless And soaked through the ground. But the words were not mine, And I could not speak Their odes to the heartless Their requiem of peat. So I ran. To the north, to the north, To the cold, to the dark, Where longitude ends, Where maps have no mark. A roar in the oceans, A whisper in the woods. There is something here Just barely understood. In the clawing peaks, Across ravenous ice, In the furious rivers, In the cinderglow night, There is something waiting At the edges of sight And
