A Beginners Guide to Customizing Your Profile
Learn easy ways to customize your profile!
Do you want to customize your profile on DeviantArt? Whether you’re trying to personalize your space for the first time or have been decorating your profile for years, here are some tips and tricks to make your profile feel like home.
Theme Is Everything
To start personalizing your Profile, first come up with an idea for the overall vibe you want it to have. This can range from simply selecting a color palette based on colors you like (or artwork in your Gallery) to deciding what backgrounds you want to use to add interesting elements to your Profile. Go with whatever suits your vision!
How to Customize
Add a Cover Image
Adding a Profile cover image is a great starting point for all deviants, and it’s easy to do!
When creating a cover image for your Profile, the recommended dimensions are 1600 pixels by 800 pixels and 1920x1080 resolution at minimum, so the image fits well and appears clearly for all viewers.

The icon next to group names has a new look! Viewers are now able to better distinguish group profiles from individual deviants’ profiles with a symbol that now matches the groups icon present in DeviantArt’s left sidebar for some time. Visit your favorite group to see it in action!
Creative Challenges by team, journal
Creative Challenges
Artists in the community are always ready to show off their artistic skills. This is a list of past contests and challenges.
The pre-selected tags feature for suggesting tags on your art has received several accuracy improvements over the past few months. However, some deviants voiced a preference for complete control over their tags.
Now you can opt-out of pre-selected tags when you have your own preset tags. Simply go to your Studio, select “Presets,” and toggle off “Automatically add tags suggested by the system.” This option will appear when you have your own preset tags selected. Deviants with multiple presets can configure each one individually depending on their needs.
Suggested tags will still show up on the interface — with improved accuracy -- but they won’t be automatically applied.

Worms
A drabble, 100 word story, based on this image. Writers' Digest contest.
Tobacco was our cash crop. The livelihood of Beauford County. It paid our farm and home mortgages.
Until the worms came.
No one knows from where. One day the crops were flourishing, the next, dead. Worms the type never seen before. Or since. Ugly, huge, green, with mouths big enough to swallow a rat whole. Tobacco is poisonous to insects. The worms thrived on it.
“Aliens!” Uncle Claude declared.
“Nonsense,” we told him. “Ain’t no such thing.”
But for the first time far back as we could remember, the crops failed. And that is why we lost the farm.

I remembered a comic I read online.
It was years back I found it
Years back I first got hooked
Hell it was before I even started writing
It was one of the first comics I found online
Still among the best ones I ever saw
And it’s still unfinished
Left in limbo for years now.
Untouched
But hey. Life happens
The author’s still around at least
Doing other stuff.
But for me
That comic was a gateway
A gateway towards stories
Towards people and and more
To me that comic truly was
