ocean 06

Picture 6 of my ocean series.
Taken mostly in 2005.
I'm quite new to underwater-photography, so take it easy on me... :D
But please feel free to comment!

This species is called Crown Jellyfish.

For a novice in underwater photography, this is truly an awe-inspiring shot. The gradient of light to dark for the background while giving me the impression of having been done in a studio, know that such an unearthly beauty as this jellyfish is, had to have been taken in the warmer climes nearer to the equator; which is why the water is so crystal clear and a great choice of backdrop.

The photographer has caught in this single shot, not only the incredible diversity of life here on this planet, but also sparks for this Mad Scientist, a feeling of a picture taken of a creature not of this Earth.

I count myself lucky to have come across this picture almost 3 years later, and am surprised this hadn't gotten nominated for a daily deviation.

Thank you very much for this outstanding critique.
I am very flattered. Words like these make me go on and keep trying my best. I hope I'll be able to go and take some more underwater pictures this year. Keep your fingers crossed. :D

You're most certainly welcome.

I'll keep an eye out when that happens.

I have been wanting to become an underwater photographer. Is there any place that you learned?

I wonder whether you ever visited Monterey Bay A. in Monterey, CA? I get the feeling you can go wild with your creativity. Even though this photo is five years old, and yet it is also timeless, isn't it?

wow, so this photo is taken in the ocean?
you really did an excellent job, I'm surprised how clear and sharp the colours are!

Yup, taken in the ocean. I'd say there's a better chance of clear and sharp colours than taking the photo through 5 cm tank glass. ;-)
