“The Way of Kings” by Brandon Sanderson is absolutely the best book I’ve ever read, and I’m so happy I finally completed this ****** drawing (after goddamn five months). But I just LOVE this book. Can’t wait for the next volume
I tried not to draw a specific scene in the book, I just wanted to draw Kaladin how I imagine him –without Shardplate or Shardblade, but with a spear and Sylphrena on his side, the slave brands on his forehead and with curling black hair. His armor and spear I have drawn without a purpose, but I wanted the red cord on his shoulder as a memory of his time as squadleader – the other ones on his spear I draw for fun Also I draw a coming highstorm in the background and the shattered plains – and on the ground some spheres x]
“Kaladin spun through the last motions of the kata, chasm forgotten, bridgemen forgotten, fatigue forgotten. For a moment, it was just him. Him and the wind. He fought with her, and she laughed.” –from the first book :]
Done on Photoshop CS5. Please don’t copy it without my permission
If you want, look at the other fanart I did from Kaladin
I hope you don’t mind, but I would like to ask you a question. I am TheBlueShifting, and on my YouTube channel I am doing a series called “Leters From the Cosmere.” They are a series that Brandon Sanderson helped me start, told from the perspective of a Worldhopper named Elsric who explores the Cosmere and reports on his findings. The series is meant to be a place where new fans of Brandon’s work can find information about the inner connectedness of his books, while also providing a fun narrative. This series is great because I have been able to work with artists like yourself. I would love to feature your Cosmere art in my series! I promise to only use your art if you approve, and I make sure to do my best to direct my viewers back to your websites to see more of what you can do.
I am so grateful for artists like yourself who help me see the Cosmere in ways I never could. I hope this is a project that you feel you can support. If you want to see what this project is like, here is a link: youtu.be/9T5Aw5rJ8nQ
I look forward to hearing from you!
