typeface inspired by high heels. thought i'd include my rationale here as this was a project i did for my Letterforms&Calligraphy class, to give you a rough idea on how i came up with it ;)

This was a fun project overall because I got the chance to explore a diverse and massive collection of High-heeled shoes, which was the main inspiration for the typeface that I have created. In the same way, I have also thoroughly enjoyed the whole process of challenging myself in creating this typeface as I have always used to have this crazy idea that creating a font was one of the hardest things to do in graphic design and going ahead with this project has surely proved me wrong.

My inspiration for this typeface comes from High-heeled Shoes as I have mentioned earlier. I searched the internet for pictures of high-heeled shoes, read a bit about its background, and made rough sketches using pencil in order to see whether it would be possible to make a whole alphabet set out of it.

As I progressed, I was eager to experiment with different styles and forms however it turned out harder than I had expected. For instance, what disappointed me most was that it was definitely hard to fit certain letter forms into the dynamic shapes of shoes. “O” for example, if it was to resemble a shoe, should I either twist it or draw a shoe inside an ‘O’? For which I settled with taking out an element of the shoe, which was a shoe strap, then shaped it as an ‘O’ just so that something else would not look too out of shape. As I continued further I faced other obstacles. My first thought was to create a combination of different styles of shoes, but later I was advised to create a more uniform version of it that included a single style of shoe. It was fun however, to explore the various possibilities in how a single shoe can be shaped into the letters of the alphabet.

Hi Zummi,

I'm an Italian art director of an adv agency. I'd like to know if this typeface can be bought and used for advertising (direct marketing, direct mailing and web rights). If so, how much would it cost? And what kind of file could you give us (a psd with the letters and backgrounds on different levels, fo example?). Please, let me know as soon as possible, answering me at:

denise.lauro@forchets.com

Have a nice day.

I love and collect heels (but never wear them, my feet are too manly for the delicate little things) - and I love this font!

I'm currently in the baby stages of typography, so this is a true inspiration! Do you mind if I use it in class as an example for the future? I will give full credit.
