Yeah. My desu-KaWaiIi-sugoi-bishie anti-heroes again. :|

The whole Khran/Hiid is supposed to be utterly absurd, because it's been a parody couple from the start. You really can't have anything akin to Legolas/Mary Serenity-Sakura Raven-Evanescence Moonpetal Sue in this novel.
Hiid's been now standardized to 5'5", but Khran's hovering somewhere around an indeterminate 8 feet.
I know what kind of galore of sword jokes one might make about this. x)

I've been once again painting the sordid thing whilst being sick, so no anti-lopsidedness guarantee present.

The Curse of Rha-kan'Ocka belongs to me. [link]

Even if it's meant to be absurd, I think they do make a sweet couple. :) It looks like they're singing.

I just love how you do the female form. Gorgeous work! :) And, needless to say, the detail is amazing... I know I sound like a broken record in that regard, but it continues to fascinate and astound me.

I'm simply awed by the level of realism and detail here. You blow me away each time.

That's what I lovew about your work, no Mary-sues, bishies elf boys, or anorexic looking girls. Your characters are brutish, flawed, and completely likeable (and also still hot).

Sword... *snicker*

Thanks. :D
One more factor to scribble these monsters is the point that flawed features are so much more interesting to draw, at least in my opinion. You can push the expressions more, well, expressive when the face is a bit aged, the skin and muscles get much more texture and shape with veins and hair and some fat tissue, etc.

You won't believe how much my friends make remarks about these scimitars regarding their owners. XD I'm starting to get so used to it, that I rather instinctively expect people to crack something snerkworthy about them.

You're welcome. And I totally agree. :D

We can't help it, especially when you give a huge blade like that to a sexy piece of man meat like Lord Khan. XD

Wow, wow, and wow some more! You are amazing. The detail on his armor is astounding, the way her skin glows in the dim light is great, and the anatomy is...well, you know! :D

I tried out a bit of a different kind of shading approach to Hiid's skin, as I've noticed the earlier versions look rather unrealistic. It's still maybe a bit too shiny in my opinion, but at least the old fuzzy-around-the-edges effect is gone and I got there some better shadows.

and the anatomy is...

...big? XD

Aww, they look so happy! :D And as always, the details are amazing! What I find so amazing is that ALL of your art is so detailed! I mean, I´ve made like... two detailed pics, and yet they´re nothing compared to this!

The handling of detail comes with age. I hardly drew this kind of itty bitty inducers of eye-ache ten years ago. Nowadays my brain apparently seems to think that empty spaces are its arch enemy or something. There's just that nagging need to fill them up. But I always try to make sure the composition and broader outlines are ok before starting to add patterns to a canvas or relevant.

What hips that woman has :o For some reason, I love her left feet... Must be because you handled the perspective so well.

Yeah, she has the typical body shape of a Finnish woman: short, plump, big hip bones, tendency to wide shoulders. But very deliberate since you hardly ever see women akin to this as the main character in common fantasy. ;) Slim, tall, willowy princesses in pink in have now been kicked out of the fictitious window.

I instinctively knew people'd sooner or later crack something about that scimitar. XDD

Well, he looks like a big, strong man, so I'm sure he's able to handle it...
Him walking around with a dagger or something would look pretty weird =p

 He'd look truly silly with a dagger, indeed. It might work as a toothpick, but certainly not as the manly weapon of choice. XD

Thanks. :) She's deliberately the opposite of the common tall and willowy fantasy heroine. And I'm equally tired of the two-small-planets-glued-to-a-shopstick figure, so I got even less interest to draw anything such.

I really do think you have a superb artistic talent... it's just that you don't do enough variety, not enough change. But overall two thumbs up on this pic!

I know, the variety issue has been sorta bugging me too lately. I have some ideas, but been forced to push them back in the drawer simply because of a sheer lack of time. I draw only for a hobby, and currently mostly to relieve stress during the little gaps of free time I get amid my Master's studies. I'm not that fast either; a picture like this takes about two weeks with much fixing and redrawing.

I attempt to insert something 'new' into every picture, like poses I haven't tried out before, etc. but I suppose when it's done to already familiar characters the outcome sticks to the old template. And it's kinda there, that after studying 10 hours in row some signal modulation technique, you just want to flop down into the armchair and spend your time with something familiar that doesn't need too many operational brain cells to push it onward and/or hours of searching for suitable reffs and making a ton of pre-sketches before you can even start the actual work. :( Probably the very reason for the flood of novel concepts of late.

Does Khran always show off his scimitar on walks, or is this a special occasion?

He tends to carry that thing always around. Both to show off and have a faithful personal bodyguard, in case some keen social climber tries to push him off the throne.

Yeah, the background gloominess was the purpose along with the impression that they'd be walking towards some much nicer space.
I'd so much like to draw more architectural elements and try out different atmosphere schemes with them, but never seem to have enough time. x|
