Frog by zombiwoof Frog by zombiwoof
I'm free now from this image, I hope.

Edit:
Daily Deviation, thanks. This was a long project because it was improvised in Inkscape without a goal, a lot of kill your darling. And it was so boring when the design wasn't flowing my way.

A blushing Tommy Hjalmarsson.

Thanks

Well I could do it on paper, or Adobe Illustrator, maybe Karbon......I had to use the knowledge I have from my eyers as technical illustrator on paper, so Inkscape isn't better on this as any other vector program, but not worse either.

Many makes a big deal about time. This image is from the time I started to the end about 1 year old. How many ours, I don' t know. I often work with some project over a long time (years), and I call them “crochets”. This project I work with when I find it fun, or lack of other ideas. And this frog had a lot of kill your darling, experiment and stupid ideas. And time was not important, it was a “crochet”. I have always had a problem with still life images, not other artist work. In my world a picture of the brass frog was not enough, I wanted a idea, charm, meaning. I had a lot of comedy ideas with dialog between two other frogs, but I wasn't sure. When I got the idea about the smaller frogs, the project was fun to work whit again. The feet was sooooooo boring to work with.

A tip, have some project without a real goal. See what happened in your mind “in the processes of working with the project”, and follow your thought . A weak idea is a starting point if you don't have better ideas. Start working and new better ideas will come. The start of the frog was a scribble in Inkscape of a flying brass robot. And when I did the body I saw it as a frog body in my head. And I improvised from there.

Really a dam cool work! The idea with the feet of the Robo Frog are looking cool. And finally that you done this with Inkscape is very great. I love doing work in Inkscape mostly layouting things as it have a better handling of the objects as Scribus ;-) For illustration purpose I don't haven't much expiriance collected to do it in Inkscape.
How long you think you needed for this picture... I think it will go easy to some hundred hours. Also I would be interested how many different objects gradients and so on are in the picture :-) And I think also a bunch of layers too ;-)

 Cool mecha-frog. Hope you don't mind if I pass the picture along to my buddy, 'runnerfrog' from Argentina. He loves this stuff and has his own blog where he posts computer generated art made with 'genetic algorithms'.

I like your nic too. I've had that Zappa album (Apostrophe) on my 'puter for the last few months and have been listening to it. Don't eat that yellow snow!

I worked hard to get a attitude in the body, but the frog was looking to evil. The smaller frogs is like a softener for the hole image. The evil frog disappear, and it look now if it is the defender of the smaller frogs :)
