Ithaqua - God of the Cold White Silence
This carved walrus tusk was acquired in the early 20th century in Alaska. Stylistically it is unlike most extant examples, possibly owing to its age and the isolation of the aberrant cult from which it originated, yet it incorporates aspects of the more well known Wendino of Native American Folklore.

This figure based on the creation of August Derleth in his short story 'Ithaqua'

The sculpt is actually cast in resin and stained, 14 inches tall plus base. It might be a nice companion to the Cthulhu Tupilak available from the HPLHS.
Copies are available for $65.00 Postpaid in the U.S.  Contact zombiequadrille@hotmail.com

I feel a bit like a broken record with my comments on your work... they
are always very clever in finding new ways to depict Lovecraftiana and
they always come with an authentic presentation or backstory.  I can say
the same for this piece.  I like that the design still allows it to be
read as a tusk, I knew what it was even at a thumbnail size.  The
evergreen trees are a nice touch.

Thanks, Paul.  It's fun trying to come up with new things that have at least a hint of something that makes them seem 'authentic'.  Since it's all fantasy, my research doesn't have to go too deep, but I do give it some thought.

It's cold outside, and seeing this God of the Cold White Silence just made the temperature drop. Clap

Agreed!  Joe, next time you do Ithaqua sculptures do it in the summer.  During these polar vortices you ought to stick to the hot stuff... How about a nice Cthugha?

Ha, yeah, when I posted this I wasn't even thinking about it being just about the coldest day ever.

Of course, when the summer's at its hottest, Cold White Silence will seem downright refreshing. Wink/Razz
