If a tree falls but nobody is there to asses it, has it really fallen?

I was in my cabin, in the stern castle. On the wall in front of me was part of my collection.
I turned around and went outside. On the deck my men were all getting closer to the rope that was hanging from the mast. It was going upwards.
A minute passed, then another. This sea was so damn deep, it always tried to keep everything it was given. It wasn't like the other seas, it didn't keep them so that they could be found again and remembered, no, He, or It, tried to make it so they couldn't be found. His rules were different.. They still are. And they will always be untill the "Dawnbreaker Core", or "End's Heart" as we called It, will tick its last tock, stopping, stopping creating and fading away with everything else. 23.57: I hear it. A ticking. It's constant, it goes in time with my slow rise. I wonder if... I stop. The ticking stops. And I look around me for the first time from when I started to ascend this stairway. The sea underneath it has stopped. The waves have stopped, small and big hands ready to hug their mother Sea. Further ahead I see a beach. There's a person there. It's not moving, like
