Description
Things have not been the same since Florida. Rachael Hawkins is having nightmares about that night, and the bite from Dracula. But the nightmares came at a worse time; they came days before Halloween. Rachael's friends and her former roommates, Lisa and Katie, who are both graduating from Sac State in the winter, have all pitched in with Rachael on Halloween costumes, and they went with Disney Princesses in today's time.
It's Halloween, the day where kids dress up in costumes and go door-to-door to get candy from strangers, and a day where a Halloween party is being thrown at Sacramento State. Just hours before sundown, a transport plane crashes in the middle of Old Sac, carrying the sarcophagus of an Egyptian named Kharis. There is only one survivor, Eric, a soldier who discovered the sarcophagus in Egypt. Thousands of years ago, an Egyptian named Andoheb traveled to the Hill of the Seven Jackals, to answer to the royal summons of the High Priest of Karnak. The dying priest of the sect explains the story of Kharis to his follower. Kharis once stole the sacred tana leaves in the hope of restoring life to the dead Princess Ananka. His penalty upon being discovered is to be mummified alive, and the tana leaves are buried with him. The leaves are the secret to Kharis' continued existence. During the cycle of the full moon, the fluid from the brew of three tana leaves are to be administered to the creature to keep him alive. Should despoilers enter the tomb of the Princess, a fluid of nine leaves will restore movement to the monster.
Moments before the transport plane crashed, Rachael and her friends were deciding which princess to go as for the costume contest, Rachael as Cinderella, Katie as Belle, and Lisa as Elsa. But when the plane crashed, documents flew down from the air; it contained photos of hieroglyphs from the sarcophagus of Kharis. Rachael can translate it because of her Master's in Archaeology. It reads Kharis' history with the tana leaves and an attempt to resurrect Princess Ananka.
Eric overhears what Rachael translated, and it makes him realize, there is a reason the plane crashed in Sacramento. The trees in the city grow tana leaves, if Kharis gets all the leaves, he will reign over the world when we're long gone, it will be chaos. Rachael needs to go back to the crash site of the plane to find what else is on there. Eric brings her to the crash site and only to discover there is nobody in the sarcophagus. Kharis is running free, terrorizing the children, attempting to find the tana leaves, attempting to go back to Egypt and resurrect Princess Ananka.
Kharis ransacks a local hunting store and steals a canister to create the tana serum, and appears at the university. Rachael is having a haunting flashback to when she fought Rameses II in Egypt because he caused the 10 Plagues. He rampages through the entire school, causing Rachael and Eric to hide and not be seen, only for the creature to be looking over the same spot the two are hiding. The creature continues his periodic marauding about the campus, attacking Eric and kidnapping Katie. Rachael and Lisa set out to track Kharis down, Rachael goes around the dorm rooms, and Lisa attempts to follow Kharis, the tracks are pretty easy to follow. In the eyes of Kharis, he is starting to believe Katie is a modern day reincarnation of Ananka.
Kharis has plans of his own. Enthralled by Katie's beauty, he plans to inject himself and his captive with tana fluid, making them both immortal. Rachael arrives in the nick of time, and guns down Kharis outside of the campus, while Rachael attempts to rescue Katie. However, the two appear on the scene, and Rachael's bullets do not affect the immortal being. Katie remembers hearing the secret of the tana fluid and told Rachael and Lisa that Kharis cannot drink any more of the serum. When the creature raises the tana serum to his lips, Rachael shoots and breaks the canister, shattering it. Kharis is now mortal. Rachael engulfs Kharis in flames with her lighter. The three girls later win the costume contest, with photos posted on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, the first five to leave "likes" are Tyler, Christian, Derrick, Layla, and Abraham.
In a post-credits scene, the documents revealing the hieroglyphs and the photos of Kharis are placed in a museum called "The House of Horrors."
