Description
The Homecoming Game is coming up at Concord High School in Concord, CA, and it has Varsity football quarterback Derrick Holloway prepped big time. The Homecoming theme is the 1990s, Freshmen get Captain Planet, Sophomores get Batman: The Animated Series, Juniors get The Magic School Bus, and Seniors get Disney's Renaissance Era animated films. And since Derrick is a Junior, he gets one of the best, out of the four. Derrick and his girlfriend Rebecca, who is one of the cheerleaders, have both decided to dress in the colors of Tim and Phoebe from The Magic School Bus as part of the selected theme for the Juniors.
Somewhere in London, in a hidden mansion, a man named Victor Frankenstein has collected body parts left over from the Wolf Man incident, after his visit to Los Angeles, and of course, he has a copy of his notes because his notebook went missing. It is a stormy night, and Victor thinks this will be the perfect opportunity to create life out of body parts, and of course, he does. "It's alive. It's alive." As the monster awakens, finding mixed blood together to make the body into one piece, but the stitches are still visible, the monster starts to have split personalities. The monster runs off, and Victor has indeed put a tracker inside the left foot, so he'll know where the monster is heading. The monster appears to be hiding on a ship, and it's heading for California.
One week before Homecoming, it is another Friday Night Lights, and before the game, is the 9 seconds of silence, to remember #9, Montreal Blakely, who was shot and killed in San Francisco on December 15, 2012 (I was a Sophomore at CHS when this happened). Just after the 9 seconds, the fields black out, and then suddenly, the creature that Victor had created, starts going on a rampage, frightening the people who just want to watch a high school football game. Derrick is able to save Rebecca from being attacked by the monster. Moments later, Victor arrives on the scene, only to find a messed-up football field.
Monday at school after the attack, the students and faculty are still spooked and worried that it might happen again during the school day. It's lunchtime and Derrick and Rebecca are sitting in the area outside the music room, still distraught after what happened on Friday night, still thinking if there will be another attack. Over the announcements, it is confirmed that the Homecoming game will be postponed if that monster is still out there. But little did they know, the creature was inside the woodshop class, frightened by the power tools, and then runs out with a missing hand, and causing students to run out of the school. But Derrick and Rebecca both think of a plan.
The plan that Derrick and Rebecca set is in the most unexpected place in all of Concord, Todos Santos Park. The plan involves the creature's missing hand, which is what Derrick took for himself after the incident at the school earlier in the day. The hand is being used as bait, and as Derrick and Rebecca wait for the creature to show up, Victor Frankenstein shows up and tries to get the two not to harm his creation. But then suddenly, the creature is behind them. This will be the time to do what Rebecca does in Drama class if she forgets a line in a scripted scene, improvise. Derrick runs off and shoots each light bulb to confuse the creature so that Rebecca can tie up the monster. The police arrive on the scene, and they think this is a random act of violence based on mental issues, and then they see the monster, and taser it. Using the taser only makes it worse, the monster runs on electricity, and the power from the taser makes the creature even stronger and crazier. As the monster starts to go berserk, becoming a Run-And-Hide situation. The sparks from the shot light bulbs spark a fire on the lawn of the park. And the fire somehow works, frightening the creature, allowing Victor to calm down the creature, and sews the missing hand back on, and takes the creature back to London.
Just hours before Homecoming, Derrick and Rebecca both appear in court and are told to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. The truth is, the creature was misunderstood, it was just given life by a man nobody has met before. That night on the football field, they are just kids who want to play a good game of football. As the two are explaining the truth, there's a montage of cleaning up what's left that night in Todos Santos Park. As the news breaks out, this doesn't seem to be a standard Homecoming; the 1990s theme still goes on. Nobody at the school is expecting a football player and a cheerleader to get rid of a monster. Derrick and Rebecca even go to the Homecoming Dance, wearing the colors of Tim and Phoebe from THE MAGIC SCHOOL BUS. Rachael Hawkins and Tyler Holt are also at the dance (Rachael is Princess Jasmine, and Tyler is Tarzan), to identify Derrick and send Abraham Van Helsing the information needed for the team Abe is assembling.
In a post-credits scene, while Derrick is on Winter Break in Los Angeles, finally getting to see both Disneyland and Universal Studios Hollywood at Christmas time. Upon driving into Los Angeles, he sees Christian Cutter, who is a part of an investigation of a murder involving a floating knife with fingerprints as the only evidence.
