Star Trek Kara Zor-El- Resistance is Futile This story takes place at least a few years after the last Bipplane story (The Biplane), in our calendar year 2301 (I don't know about those crazy stardates!). It is AU as are all my Trek stories. It references characters and events from several previous stories. It helps to have first read The Bipplane series, generally, both Original and Series A, and especially Yellow Sun, Peace Trek, Vulcan Beauty and The Woman Trap. But that's not necessary, this more or less stands on its' own. Also features the characters Kara Zor-El (with superpowers but not called Supergirl) and T'Vela. Space is vast, the distances are so great it might be easy to assume that no harm can come to you from thousands of light years away. But that assumption would be wrong. There is a species that developed much faster than light technology than the Federation or Alpha Quadrant Powers possess. They were subsumed by a growing and horrifying interstellar collective

I scrolled through the world on a glowing screen, Where faces smile but none are seen. A thousand "friends" with a flick of my thumb, but my heart is still lonely, heavy, and numb. I sent a "LOL" to a blinking face, But the laughter? It lingered in no known place. The hugs were emojis, the laughs acronyms A hollow façade, cheap digital whims. So I asked my phone, "What’s wrong with me?" It buzzed and it hummed and said, "Let’s see…" "You’ve got followers, likes, a profile so bright, But maybe you’re missing what’s out of sight?" I wondered aloud, "What do you mean? I’ve got all the gadgets and a touchscreen." The phone just blinked, and offered no aid, The battery dimmed and hope was decayed So I stepped outside with hesitant feet, The air was real, the sun kissed my cheek. But what if a stranger my presence espied Better not risk it, I’m going inside. I rang up a mate, just to hear them say, “Wow” it’s been so long! Let’s meet up today."

Whispers to the void

I awake at the window a star blinks its cold eye it is unfeeling, unseeing, silent and indifferent. yet I carve for myself some merit in it, some significance. The planet, indeed the universe is not distracted in it's turning. Not for me, not for you, nor the millions of breaths that rise and fall. Perhaps we see our existence as a tide eroding some crumbling shore. Yes there is a patient inevitability. But if a star can fade peacefully and die leaving only emptiness Then should I suppose I matter. Yes, I insist I craft for myself a rebellion, however inconsequential and fleeting. I laugh into the void, like a struck match weakly holding back the silent blackness. The eternal ground beneath me rumbles "you are nothing." Yet still I hold my chest high in folly I conjecture with my imperfect hands. Cups of tea poured with ceremony. I will write, I will create, I will build I will love fiercely, in silent defiance. The delusion only serves to magnify the audacity. KG

To my sweet surprise, I won recognition as a poet for the entry A Haiku of Love from July 2024. Then, adding to my surprise, I won more recognition with another poem, And the Night was Bright from Stars and Love, from March 2025. I continue to be profoundly grateful to and for many people along the way for encouraging my writing and especially poetry over the years.

I've always enjoyed and supported the arts and literature. I believe more of my fellow conservatives need to understand that these are some of the underpinnings of civilization. Also, quality works are just cool and enjoyable in themselves!

I'm mostly retired now and so have more opportunity to pursue and enjoy creative endeavors. Mostly I write stories and poems for self-expression and fun. I don't draw or render unless you like everything looking like a box. But I have posted images created from DreamUp Ai (stories & poems are mine, however).

Themes vary and are sometimes topical. But science fiction, romance and spirituality are the most common. And yes, I'm a Trekker!
