Okay now that I've gotten a story out, I can do more filler without a guilty conscience. So let's talk about one of my favorite games ever: League of Legends.
You know what...I f***ing love League of Legends. With its balanced gameplay, thought out lore, and large cast of champions (there are currently 118), there are so many reasons to love it. Still not convinced? Did I mention it's free? C'mon, you know you want it. Well now that I'm done with advertising, let's get to the point. I was looking at League of Legends stuff and found this meme, so I decided to fill it out, simple as that. Additionally, I will talk about why I chose who I chose as well as any stories I have about them. Now let's get started and dive into the Fields of Justice (yeah if you don't know anything about this game or games like this you are going to be completely lost).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First Champion: Ashe, the Frost Archer- Anyone who has played the tutorial will instantly recognize Ashe, because she is who you play as during it. However, I didn't stop playing her when the tutorial ended, because she was part of the free champion rotation for that week so I was able to play her and discover the more advanced mechanics of the game with her. And when her week in the rotation was over, I was heartbroken. Thankfully, I had accumulated enough IP to buy her; she was the first champion I ever bought. To this day she is one of my favorite champions.
Current Favorite: Nasus, the Curator of the Sands- Speaking of favorite champions, we come to Nasus, who is my third champion (second is Skarner). I swear, if you build him right, you get the perfect mix of tankiness and damage. He may be pretty weak early game, but if you farm Siphoning Strike to hell, then nothing can stop you, especially if you have a good team. And if you use your ult at the right time, then the enemy team will just run in the opposite direction. I also like him for who he is off the field too. When I first saw him in the original cinematic, I thought he was nothing more than a mindless brute, but when I checked out his profile, I was surprised to learn that this guy is much smarter than you would give him. In fact, this guy is the curator and the librarian of the Institute of War's archives and back in his home, many scholars came to him to be taught the ways of Life and Death. He's that nice mix of brains and brawn; you could imagine him giving a lecture about the angle, trajectory, and kinetic energy needed to properly bury a halberd into someone's headed as easily as he could give a demonstration. Just don't ask him about his brother.
Favorite Kind of Champion: Fighter/Tank- Some people like to battle from behind their allies as a ranged ADC or mage, some people like to deal extreme amounts of damage as an assassin in exchange for little to no defenses. However, I like to be in the middle of the fight, which means that I will be soaking up a lot of damage, but I also want to do a lot of damage. The compromise is the fighter/ tank hybrid, who can take a bit of abuse and give some back as well. My personal favorites for this category are Nasus (who can infinitely increase the damage of his Siphoning Strike), Cho'gath (who's technically a tank/mage but whatever I still love him and all of his noming), Rammus (who is almost impossible to kill if you build him right [I'll regret saying that in a minute]), and Skarner (who offers a great deal of mobility and speed).
Favorite Lane Partner: Thresh, the Chain Warden- This spot was a tie between Thresh and Sona in the case of gameplay, so it ultimately came down to personality, which Thresh won by a landslide. What can I say, the dude's a complete sadist and I love him for it. And while Thresh isn't the traditional support character (yeah the wraith with a lantern full of souls and who wants your's is a support) who heals and/or increases stats, he definitely helps set up kills. Here's a scenario: What's that? The enemy's carry is getting away? Nope. :uses Q: GET OVER HERE!! Or how about this: What's that? The entire enemy team is trying to get way? Nope. :uses ult: They're not going anywhere. Also his lantern has gotten me out of some tight situations.
Favorite Skin: Justicar Aatrox- This one as well as the worst skin category are purely hypothetical considering I have yet to spend any money on LoL, so I can't buy any skins. However, when I first saw Justicar Aatrox, it was the first skin that made me want to buy a skin. It also gets props for the complete change in character for Aatrox; normally he's a demonic being who gets his kicks from awakening the bloodlust inside men, but now he's an angel. Insert Ron Burgundy quote here.
Latest Champion: Yorick, the Gravedigger- Just gonna saw right now, I owe this guy, www.youtube.com/channel/UCzpLp…, for getting me interested in LoL and for his Top 15 LoL Champions videos for getting me interested in Yorick. Without him, I probably would have skipped over LoL and without his videos I would have skipped over Yorick, who is one of my best top-laners ever. And before I move on, I just want to say one thing about his ult: Revenge is best served at full attack damage.
Target of Rage: Dr. Mundo, the Madman of Zaun-This is where I regret saying the whole "impossible to kill thing" because whenever I go up against a Mundo, he is nearly impossible to kill. He gets so much health that it doesn't matter what you throw at him, he'll be fine afterwords (did I mention that he also uses health as a resource). Also, his cleaver does way to much damage.
Never play: Cassiopeia, the Serpent's Embrace- I once was forced to play Cassiopeia on a game of ARAM, it was my worst game ever. Yeah, there's a reason her difficulty is 100, because my kill to death ratio was insulting to my career as a league player. I hear that some people can turn her into a force of nature if she is played right. If so, please tell me how, because it is physically impossible for me to play her. On a lesser note, STOP TRYING TO BE SEDUCTIVE CASSIOPEIA, YOU'RE HALF SNAKE WITH GIANT CLAWS!
Rarely seen: Rumble, the Mechanized Menace- I have seen almost every champion, some only once or twice, some incredibly frequently (looking at you Teemo). However, even if I haven't seen a champion, I usually know what kind of role they play or part of their backstory. When it comes to Rumble, I only know two things about him: 1) He's a yordle, 2) He pilots a mecha. That's it. Is he a fighter? Mage? Marksman? I don't know. Does he know Hermdinger, Teemo, or any other famous yordles? Possibly. Have I even seen a video of gameplay of him? Nope.
Worst skin: Nightmare Cho'gath- There are a few skins in LoL that are just a different coloring of the original champion. Their splash art is in the exact same pose as the original's splash art, just a different coloring. However, for the most part I either like the concept behind the different coloration or I like the coloration itself. But with Nightmare Cho'gath, neither is true. What's the concept? Oh, there is none. It's just Cho'gath in the exact same pose with a different coloration. Speaking of which, I just don't like the coloration at all. I don't know I just don't like that shade of blue with those orange eyes on Cho'gath. Besides, why would you want a stupid coloration when you could have either the classy Gentleman Cho'gath, or the awe-inspiring Battlecast Cho'gath, which inspired an entire line of skins.
