Maille Belt by zikes Maille Belt by zikes
Yep, I've finally gone off the deep end...I actually made a chainmaille BELT
Who knows what craziness I'll come up with next! Chainmaille silverware! Plates! Bowls! Chainmaille sporks!

:slap:

Ok, now that I got that out of the way :) This belt was made using the exact same weave and materials as my Chainmaille Vest, however for a loop at the end I instead used Full Persian joined at the ends to form a solid circular chain.

It's made from aluminum so it's really lightweight, I can put all the chainmaille I own on and after half an hour or so nearly forget it's even there :)

Actually a friend of mine made a maille vest out of galvanized steel that was about as dense as my aluminum one. It weighed about 19lbs and when you held it in your hands it would seem to be very heavy but once you get it on the weight's distributed very well, he once wore it around school all day and has even fallen asleep with it on

Willing to sell? How much you want for it if you still have it and/or want to sell it, and/or want to make another? I would love a chainmail belt! CASH!...

ooo I would definitely be interested in making a belt to sell, but unfortunately it can be rather expensive...the number of hours put into a belt such as the one pictured here would require a price tag of at least $150 to be worth selling :hmm:

Of course, simpler belts would be cheaper, it depends on the style you have in mind :)

Hehe, I scrutinize my writing, spelling, grammar, and speech. It's happened because a) I'm working on improving my English and b) the Canadians say that I speak funny... now I'm paranoid about everything.

Hehehe, It's funny. I find it funny. Hilarious, actually. But.. yeah.. most people have no idea where I'm from other than 'somewhere in the US, right?' Even then, someone asked me what it was like living in Austrailia. It's kind of like.. okaaaaay... now what happened to your brain?

Another challenge! A glove! A chainmail glove! Or two. Since you have two hands... Well I presume you've got two hands...? Three?

I've already got chainmaille gloves ;)
I didn't make them, though, an uncle of mine gave them to me. They were originally used by butchers.

lol nope just plain old butchers, they got a lot of sharp knives and that chainmaille saves them from a lot of cuts

I challenge you! you should make full maille clothes (we're talking pants, shirt, cloak, hodd and the like) and then post a picture of you wearing it!
Of course, this, as everything else you make, is wicked cool :)
