Danny Phantom - Desiree the Djinn

My reimagining of Desiree from Danny Phantom.

For her new history, Desiree was a courtesan, offering comfort to any man willing to pay. This was a satisfactory life for Desiree as she was gifted with luxurious treasures and food from far off lands. One of these gifts ended up being an oil lamp that seemed to be ordinary, but upon cleaning it, the lamp shook and out came a spirit, a legendary Djinn. This Djinn introduced himself as a Khalid of the Lamp. When telling Desiree of her obtaining 3 wishes of her heart's desires, Desiree could only laugh as she had virtually everything she could ever ask for, so Khalid was a Djinn without a wish to grant, so he instead told Desiree of the past times that he was summoned and what the world was like centuries ago. With Desiree hanging onto Khalid's every word, she started to see him as something that no other previous master had, as an actual person, not a spirit or wish granter. As time passed, Desiree grew close to Khalid and started to become romantically entangled with him and made her first and only wish, for Khalid to be freed, so that they can live and love each other without the rules of the lamp in the way. Khalid was freed of the lamp and made into a mortal man, but Desiree didn't understand the rules of the Djinn and their Lamp. There always needed to be a Djinn within the magical lamp and by her making the wish, the magic that once bound Khalid transformed Desiree into a Djinn. Khalid would stay to find a solution to freeing Desiree, but actually experiencing the world for himself made Khalid go out to have a life of his own and the time that Khalid and Desiree were together became less and less until one day, he never came back. With no master, Desiree was pulled back into the lamp until she would find a new one. Unfortunately, this wouldn't happen until centuries later when Desiree's lamp was found among junk and put on display at the Amity Park Museum of Unnormalities.

It was originally assumed that this lamp was just a lamp of never ending flames as it never went out upon lighting it. Things would take an even stranger turn when Danny's class visited the museum and Paulina Sanchez heard a voice calling out to her and it led her to the lamp, which she rubbed and out of it came Desiree. Desiree was surprised at this new place that she was in and wondered just how much time had passed while she was in the lamp. When she finally realized that Paulina was the one that freed her, Desiree felt a spiritual connection to the teen and started to look deep within Paulina's aura (or life force) to see why there was this connection to someone Desiree shouldn't know at all. Through visions, Desiree and Paulina saw Paulina's ancestors, going all the way back to one that originated from Ancient Arabia and it was Desiree's sister, Fatima. Desiree was Paulina's distant relative and though it was a bit awkward at first, Desiree pulled her family member into a hug, happy that she wasn't alone in the world. Paulina would steal the lamp and bring Desiree home with her to keep the Djinn safe.

Desiree now joins Paulina as something of a guardian angel and makes sure to steer her clear of trouble especially when it comes to boys since Desiree still carries bitter memories of her last love and how she unwittingly gave up her life for him, but he couldn't do the same. In Desiree's view, most men are jerks, but there are a handful out there that could be nice to Paulina like that "dumb looking sweet boy Danny Fatone. Or was it Denton, ........Fantown?"

Abilities

1) As a Djinn, Desiree can grant wishes. She capable of three true wishes and an unlimited amount of false wishes, ones that always have a price to pay for them being granted, much like a Monkey's Paw.

2) Desiree control spectral flames and mists that bend to her will.

3) Because of her Djinn status and connection to the lamp, Desiree can never be pulled into a Fenton Capture Thermos. But she can be weakened enough to go back into her lamp in order to recover.
