no point in rationalizing
no point in arguing
when there's a million points of view
the only point that matters
is the point that I feel
whether it's stuck in my back
or leading me up the wrong hill
don't tell me I'm wrong
when not a single person is right
As Fleetwood Mac once sang, "maybe I'm wrong, but who's to say what's right?" Or, in the words of The Yardbirds (as I've come to learn), "I'm not searching for a reason to enjoy myself. Seems it's better done than argued with somebody else." Of course in this day of "alternative facts", this perspective takes on a newly sinister interpretation. (Although Sonmi-451 would say that "truth is singular. Its 'versions' are mistruths"). Still, as somebody who started out with very little confidence, and quite a lot of anxiety, it's good to have the confidence to trust your instincts on something. Besides, even if I'm wrong, it's generally my belief that people should be given the opportunity to make their own mistakes (as long as, you know, it's not life-threatening or anything). That's how we learn.
