Censorship is a prison for the mind

The great thing about freedom is that every individual is given the choice to consume whatever media they want. Censorship is an obstacle to freedom, because it takes away that choice by imposing one person or group's ideology regarding what one should and should not consume onto everyone. Do you trust somebody else to know what's good for you, to dictate your choices in terms of the media you consume? I sure don't. I want to live my own life, by my own standards, not somebody else's.

The image I used this time is one I'll probably get around to uploading sometime after the holidays (edit: you can see it here), when I'm not so busy (speaking of which, I need to stop wasting my time making stamps...). And I'm sorry, but if those few nondescript pixels count as "nudity", then I'll eat my hat (if I'm wearing one).

Technically, someone else censoring something they did, filmed, made etc isn't infringing on YOUR freedom.  It's their decision since it was their media.

Yes, that's true. What of it? Besides, there is a little something called "the chilling effect", which causes artists to preemptively censor their works in order to avoid criticism, and it's just as much an obstacle to free expression.

If you can't handle criticism you should censor your work anyway.

You're a real charmer. Something tells me your username is an accurate description of your personality.

You have the freedom to say and express your views, but not the freedom from backlash that you'll get if you have, do or say scummy things; if you can't handle that, you should censor it anyway.

Firstly, "scummy" is a subjective value judgment. Second, though it's true that an artist needs to cultivate the ability to handle criticism, that's not an excuse for insensitivity, and it sure isn't a defense for [self-]censorship. Thirdly, why are we even discussing this? This stamp is about protesting censorship, not whining about people disagreeing with you if you say something "scummy". Last I checked, somebody expressing their opinion that you're a bigot because of something you said isn't censorship. Which I guess is what you said in your first comment, but what I'm confused about is why you even brought it up in the first place. Because whoever you were responding to, it wasn't me...
