Description
Pegomastax africanus, a South African Early Jurassic Heterodontosaurid discovered in 1966, but named 4 days ago (October 3, 2012 if you prefer). The only material available is a partial skull and the whole animal measured about 60 centimeters long. The Heterodontosaurid of Laurasia (the northern landmass) had triangular front teeth, whereas in species of Gondwana (the southern landmass) as Pegomastax, front teeth formed kinds of canines, or tusks. We found structures resembling primitive feathers on one of his cousins, Tianyulong confuciusi, so I guess Pegomastax had also, they probably had a defensive role. This is a sketch I did quickly. It's funny, the human silhouette looks a bit like Slenderman. EDIT: I colored it fix some little details.
