Hello everyone. My name is Zev Chafer, and I am a visual artist and writer from the Netherlands. My passion for creating art and writing is evident in everything I do. At the moment, I am working on a visual story and worldbuilding project called The Field of Stories - Àyrngáer. It is set in a rural semi-fictional world of the 17th century where, between the harsh lives in the countryside, ancient knowledge will change time forever. ABOUT ''THE FIELD OF STORIES''

The Field of Stories - Ayrngaer is a visual art- and worldbuilding project created by Zev Chafer. The project involves the creation of a semi-fictional universe, complete with its own geography, demography, and cultures. The world serves as the stage for artwork, short stories, and a main storyline, which will eventually be transformed into an online encyclopedia, a book, and videos. On this page, you can learn more about the history of this project, its process, and the goals that I aim to achieve.



The World in the "Field of Stories" blends non-fiction with fiction, and is set against the backdrop of Europe between 1850 - 1950. While the exact location is fictional, it draws inspiration from the tri-border area of the Netherlands and the former Hanoverian and Prussian Kingdoms. Historical events from this era subtly influence the story, shaping the characters' actions. Main historical events occasionally surface in the storyline, but the primary focus is on a(n) (almost parallel) fantasy world that the main characters must navigate and make sense of alongside their "regular" lives. "The Field of Stories" strikes a balance between the history we can relate to and an immersive fantasy realm.

Hello everyone, The last few months I have worked on a new visual art project called "Àyrngáer - The Field of Stories". The project follows a main storyline where you can explore the universe with its places, characters, history, tales and much more through stories, art, music and video. Today, another update of the development of the 3D-model of the project The Alley. Most of the buildings have their basic construction and I have added some props in the scene, like a carriage, crates, and a tree. I like the composition, but the level of detail is still not good enough. I do not know yet how detailed the model must be and which details I can better add in Photoshop. But that is part of the process for this project :) The model must give an accurate representation of the objects with their reflections and shadows. So everything that emits light or casts shadows must be included in the model. I however do not like how the leaves and water are rendered, so I may add that in Photoshop for a more realistic finish. I will now start working on the finer details and adding more props to the scene. Maybe I will experiment a little bit with some photoshop editing.
