Other Interests
writing comics and illustrated stories, screenplays
A few years ago when I first started getting serious about writing comics, I would post an ad on various forums looking for an artist to collaborate with and I'd get 20-30 responses. And at least half of those would be really good, where it would be a tough choice of who I wanted to work with. I got one short script completed and published this way, and found my entire Steel Rising art team this way. Now I set aside my big projects for a months and started working on short scripts again, hoping to get some more stuff published in anthologies and build up my portfolio some more.  I've posted an ad in 4 different places over the past 3 weeks,

Steel Rising, written and created by me with awesome art by Brad Thingvold, Joe Armour, and Michael Summers is now up for voting in Round 2 of Small Press Idol. Head over to the Idol site at http://www.dimestoreproductions.com/forum-t36286.html and vote for us. We need all the support we can get, so if you like what you see tell your friends and have them come check it out to. The grand prize winner gets a 4 issue publishing deal from Dimestore with the potential for a continuing series if it's successful.

Steel Rising is an entry for the 2009 Small Press Idol competition. For those that don't know what SPI is, the easiest way to describe it is as American Idol for the independent comics world. The creative team consists of: Brad Huffman-Parent (me): creator/writer Brad Thingvold: pencils Joe Armour: inks Michael Summers: colors Steel Rising was just voted into Round 2 of the contest with three "Yes" votes (out of a possible three!). Find out more at http://www.dimestoreproductions.com/forum-t30033.html to see what the judges and other members have to say about it. And don't forget to come back and vote for us when Round 2 starts in Apr

Thanks for the watch!!!
thx for the watch
Thanks for the watch also! It looks like you've jumped into the Reality pool. Welcome!
Any plans to do your comic idea with said tools?
You have some great work to watch! I've spent my morning adding all the awesomeness I'm finding in the Reality Render thread at the Daz forums.

<<Any plans to do your comic idea with said tools?>> That's the exact plan. I have designs for two of the characters here in my gallery and I'm working on recreating the hand drawn cover image that's also posted there .
Thank you very much! Doing a comic/graphic novel is precisely how I ended up finding Daz, and subsequently Reality, a few years back.
I too write for hobby (and, perhaps, will one day make some money! :D) and wanted to convert one of my novels to a more cinematic theme as I love good film noir, and select features of varying subjects. It's a lot of work for a one guy studio but it can be done.
I'll be looking forward to seeing you progress!

Ah, it just popped into my head. There's a fellow here on DA that has a stupendous comic going that he makes in Poser. IamUman I think is his handle. Definitely worth a look!
Sorry, one more thing I remembered. Have you checked out Amazon Studios? They've got an indy thing going but they're throwing some serious cash at screenplays and movie ideas.
thank you for the watch
