Moon whispered to Stars,
"Sisters, are you awake?"
Stars did not answer, but twinkled in heavenly bars,
Moon wilted and looked toward his friend Lake.
"Lake, come please and talk with me?"
But Lake did not answer,
Sighing, Moon glided over to Sea,
"Sea, come watch Dolphin, the nightly dancer."
Yet around the world, Moon did glide,
From Mountain top to Woody glade,
But everywhere all things seemed to hide,
From Moon, who bleakly brayed.
Then weeping Moon turned his back to Night,
And for everything all was dark,
Soon all missed the luster of light,
They sought for Moon's bright spark.
Finally Moon heard them and listened to their pleas,
Stars begged for their brother back,
While Squirrels pleaded in the trees,
For Moon to light their acorn stack.
Sun awoke and wondered why,
Her brother Moon was still up.
Moon explained why he was still in the sky,
And Sun knew what was up.
After a while all did agree,
That they would talk to Moon,
From the grand and mighty Sea,
Down to the small Loon.
