I stared at this for quite a while before my brain was capable of forming coherent thoughts. The emotion of the piece is very subtle but still manages to be strong at the same time. The lighting and the composition complement and complete the atmosphere almost perfectly, and the overall effect makes her feelings almost seem to seep through the mask. The hair draws the attention to the mask seamlessly and helps to balance out that feather which could far too easily manage to appear awkward. I mean... just wow. Words cant do this piece justice. I would love to see more from you.

A brief critique, as I am very busy....
The mixture of the mask, the feathers and the wind-swept hairstyle is very evocative, depicting a unusual bird/human animalism. Nonetheless, I feel that the sadness and isolation of the model (by some grand anonymity) are more important and more visually potent than the animalistic qualities of the work. The photograph works well, but the fact that the you cannot see beyond the shoulder of the model does create a visual ambiguity. Should the human/bird be in flight (or a pose suggesting flight?) or crossing the sea alone (black and white may indicate a sea bird)? The black background also leaves the viewer guessing at the meaning of the work.

So, a little puzzling... Perhaps we should see more of the model or view her from the bottom of the neck upwards which would frame her face and hair? But, nevertheless an attractive and moody shot depicting animalism, femininity and lonliness.

This is an amazing piece from the mask to the slump of the (bare) shoulder. I saw this and felt some grip on my stomach for this woman. But the emotion seems to get lost in the mask too, which made me sad to see that such a beautiful piece could take away from another. Her hair also seemed to take from the impact and visuality of this picture. I wish that there was some type of knowledge that could be included into this image, but I what is in front of my eyes does not disappoint me. I really like this and hope to see more from you and your creativity.

Contrary to what a previous deviant said, I think the blue looks beautiful against the blond hair. And the mask is gorgeous--doesn't look cheap at all. This is a beautiful photo. :)

IMHO, the various elements that go into the composition and presentation of this image do not seem to have much coherence. The pale blue color combined with the blond hair is very discordant, but not in an interesting way.. The mask looks cheap, and the model is posing as though she is though she's just waiting until the shutter is released so she can take off the costuming. Now others might think this is a wonderful image. If it makes you feel good to read positive responses go right ahead.

Masks always give this mysterious feel to the person who's wearing one. But this is different - it feels like this woman is not wearing a mask but actually is showing herself from the inside.

Good Lord, this is gorgeous. All aspects of this photo are so striking... I found myself just starting for a few moments. The soft definitions of her curls mixed with the hard details of the mask are really amazing. And, the dark background just makes everything stand out. Such a gorgeous photograph!
