This was going to be a status post but it got kinda long so
More of a advisory vent than anything

I currently owe my family $260 in various expenses. Thankfully I'm not a spender so I have cash and worst comes to worst I just pull money from my bank account. But I'll be honest, it's a bit scary thinking about those expenses and knowing I'll somehow have to pay them over summer when my casual jobs (babysitting, tutoring, etc) dry up.
Honestly... I'm glad I'm realizing this now, while I still have a roof over my head and the worst thing that can happen is I have to stay home from movie outings and such. To all of my followers still in high school- you know, it's okay if you have to pay for some of your expenses like car insurance. Learn how to set aside the cash while the consequences are light.
Though looking at the future with this in mind is honestly kind of terrifying? Within a couple years I'm going to be carrying my current expenses and more on my own, and even though my parents are well off enough to support me if I fall, I don't like that risk I'm running. I'm not much of a spender but I'm also not very competitive, so even though I'm aware of the fact that I really need a job it's hard to get my act together and go get one.
Which puts the idea of going to college to learn art and game design a little concerning? Like I knew I intended to get some kind of comp sci minor but now I'm starting to recognize that I'm going to be competing in one of the most intense and glutted occupations out there and the idea is... not thrilling, to say the least. And the thing is, I've never had this concern before but now I kinda do and I'm scared. Scared that I'll either end up in the 90% that isn't making art with their art degree, or that I'll give up on my dream before I even begin.
Something's gotta change. I either need to give up or go all-in.
I really need to get a job this summer.

...Anyway that's all tho! Other than that I'm actually doing ok haha. Have a nice day!

sorry to hear about the expenses come up! I hope it's for nothing serious and just family stuff or insurance or a phone bill or something. as a college student who is mostly financially responsible for myself I do have to say though that you have a lot better head about this than a lot of people I know haha ^o^; honestly I think you'll do okay when you're on your own!! you have the right sensibility regarding money and what's important and that's better than a lot of college students. good luck paying everything off quickly!! (and if you wanted to do commissions to help with that hmu!! ;3)

Thanks Nix. Yeah it was just family stuff, I pay some of my car insurance and needed to pay of a prom ticket so things added up quickly! I'm doing a lot better now though. I'm less worried about expenses now. It's almost like I forgot myself for half a week and woke up again so I am back to normal.
Yes, I definitely plan on doing commissions soon! I still have to set up my paypal (and padre owes me $70 for that- long story) so when that's done I'll be prepped and ready to start taking commissions. I definitely want to do that through college, at the very least to get a little side cash when I need it! I'll let you know when they open!

It's good you think about these sort of things before regrets happen. I applaud you for that.
