  1. How long have you been on DeviantArt? At least 6 years. Including my old abandoned account, I've been on DA for at least 10 years.

  2. What does your username mean?  Zauber is a german word which means "magic" or "sorcery". Taken together, my artist name would roughly mean that I am a "creator of science and magic".

  5. What was your first deviation? A snapshot of Isla Draconia, my region at InWorldz   Isla Draconia 1 by ZauberParacelsus

  6. What is your favourite type of art to create? I tend to favor digital art in general, though primarily I favor 3D art these days.

Okay, so this is something I haven't done for a long while: the feature meme!  And since I posted under two such journals today, I'm combining them both.

Rules:
1 - For each of the first 20 people answering this journal, I will put their avatar and 3 deviations I like most from their gallery on the list!
2 - If you answer, you have to do the same in your journal, putting the tagger (me) on the first place.

All you gotta do is comment!

For anyone who is over at Weasyl, I have an account over there as well, and have had it for at least a year or two.

If you'd like to follow me there, my account page is at: www.weasyl.com/~zauberparacels…
For anyone who reads or is interested in my web comic, Lord of Maelstrom, I've just written a blog post about some future plans I have in store for the comic:

Last year, Oodle bought out the website Grouply, which allowed members to create small social networks for their groups. However, they only bought Grouply for talent/assets, and some time after the buyout they shut down the entire grouply network, without warning and with little or no options for users to back up their content.

Site owners were given raw database dumps of their website archives. I was sent a file from the archive of one grouply site I was a member of, which I've used to reconstruct this hilarious blog post:

Be one of the first 14 people commenting on this journal entry, and I will put your avatar and three deviations that I will personally select from your gallery in this "Share the Art" feature.

IMPORTANT: If you do comment, you're expected to do the same in your own journal; putting me on the first place, completing the list with 14 other people to make a sum of 15 people.

The idea behind this is NOT to get a free feature, but to help spread art and artists around for everyone. So why not check out the artists on other peoples' list?

Hunter Princess by Asenath-Nightroad Dreams of a bird...
So close yet so far,
I see you in my eyes,
Dreaming of you every night,
Even without noticing I am.
So deep this love runs,
Impressing myself how deep roots are,
Reaching to the very core of my existence,
And Wreaking Havoc on my mind.
Each day this love grows,
More intense than the last,
Making me finally notice,
I do indeed have a heart.
Even thought this,
My love seems so Forbidden,
As I'm a bird without freedom,
And I can't tie anyone to my binds.
Perilous my tracks are,
But I keep fighting on,
As I'll try to gain the heart,
Of the one I most love.
My love might be a taboo,
But I hope to break those rules,
As love doesn't have limits,
And it can happen to anywho.
Indeed my heart feels,
And I'm proud of it,
So I want to say,
That I love thee…

Well, after waiting four months for a driver fix for my graphics tablet (some of that wait time being from me not noticing that a patch was available for some time), I've finally gotten my drawing tablet to work.  So, I decided to give DeviantArt's muro tool a try.

However, it appears to be having some odd issue with autosave, giving this error message:

"deviantART muro has detected errors in autosave.  Continuing to draw at this point is risky in that you could lose some of your work.  Press OK to reload this page, and cancel to keep drawing."

If does that every time the page loads or reloads, and every time it attempts to autosave.  Anyone know what's going on with it?

Well, after having problems with the comic medium, I decided to switch to short story format.  I've also decided that I'm going to start double-posting my short stories here at DeviantArt, in order to get more exposure and more feedback (as of yet, I've had almost no feedback from the primary site).

So, hopefully this works out, because I wish to know what parts of my writing need improvement.
Okay, so is it just me, or is anyone else having problems with journal entries returning to the stack after having been cleared?
Over the summer I had been too depressed and frustrated to work on my comic.  The depression was mostly from real life stuff, and the frustration was with the character art for the comic.

It had been hard to work with from the start, making it difficult to do a lot of things.  The worst came with a couple of episodes where one of the characters had jumped on someone and started grappling him., and then another where the same guy was tackled by another character.  Although the scene was as hilarious as intended, I was not satisfied with it..  Those two comics really demonstrated to me the limitations of the art style I was using.  So I began toying around with the idea of another art upgrade.

The first one involved a switch to 3D cel-shaded characters, but my own modelling attempts in blender did not get very far.  A friend made a character model for me, though I wasn't satisfied with it.

Through the summer, I was able to get some upgrades to my computer, which would hopefully help me to work on the comic better.  The upgrades followed three different things: a new video card (for the comic's 3D backgrounds, increased RAM, the addition of a 3rd monitor.  As well, I had to order a replacement stylus for a Wacom Intuos2 tablet I had laying around.  The first two upgrades I got done successfully.  The third one, the monitor, had to be put off because I accidentally ordered too short of an adapter cable.  Then there was a comedy of errors with the stylus for the wacom tablet.  Newegg and Buy.com both had it back-ordered, so I had to cancel my orders.

So, I gave up for a bit, and then disaster struck.  My computer's power supply suddenly died.  After the initial panic and troubleshooting, I ordered a replacement off of newegg.  It arrived a few days later, so I installed it and it worked without any problems for most of the evening.  But, after using my computer for a few hours, I decided to reboot it.  The computer didn't boot.  Nothing worked.  The only sign of life out of it was the system fans.  The power buttons were not working either, so the only way to turn the system off was to unplug it.

So, I've been stuck on my ancient laptop for the past three weeks, working on a new storyline for a reboot of Lord of Maelstrom.  Just in the past couple days, after doing some further performance tuning on my laptop, I've been able to get inkscape running somewhat better, so I began working on an art upgrade for Lord of Maelstrom.  Within the next couple of days, however, new parts will be arriving for my computer.

So, I will hopefully be back up and running within the next few days.
