Who are you, and where are you from?
The name’s Horace. I’m from the town of Mosswood, just east of here.
2. What is one thing cool about where you are from?
For the most part, the people. There’s a lot of nice people in Mosswood. Not to say the people in Tabira are bad.
3. What is one thing you hate about where you are from?
...I don’t want to talk about it.
4. What is something about your home not many people know about, be it a hidden place or special feature or anything else only locals would know?
Oh, I know all kinds of hidden places. There’s the panel under the corner booth at the local diner that leads to a secret tunnel, there’s the hidden attic in the old barn outside of town, and so many more.
5. What is a piece of folklore, popular or not, from your home? It could be something like a legendary folk hero, a story of how your home was founded, a spooky urban legend, a fairy tale, or anything else of the sort.
My favorite is the story of Gawain, the Gallant Gallade. They say that he could fight a hundred foes, and always fought for good. No one could beat him in combat, and he always defended those who couldn’t defend themselves from bullies, bandits, and invaders alike.
6. Do you believe it? Why or why not? If not, how do you think it originated?
I don’t care if he was real or not, he’s an inspiring figure. I want to believe he was real, but he’s probably just an exaggeration of a real warrior.
7. What is a piece of folklore you have heard that is from outside of your home? Maybe you heard it traveling to Tabira, performing guild duties, or read about it somewhere.
My brother’s favorite is the Knight of the Forest. He was a Scyther whose blades were so sharp they could cut through anything. He lived in a forest, but no one knows where, and he defended it from anyone who would do it or its inhabitants harm.
8. Do you believe it? Why or why not? If not, how do you think it originated?
Again, it’s probably just a legend that spun out of proportion. There probably was a Scyther who lived in a forest and fought poachers and lumberjacks, but I doubt he was as cool as he sounds in the tales.
9. Finally, if you could invent a popular folktale of your own, perhaps even of your own adventures, what would it be?
Well, I don’t need to invent one! I am, after all, a talented musician who travels the land, fighting for justice. What more do you need for a good folktale?
