One of the hardest realities I've had to face, as an artist, is my declining health. My physical health is that of a 60-year-old, betraying the 24-year-old I am. From degenerative disc disease, bone spurs and arthritis in my spine; to full-body pain, and atrophied muscles that I can't build back without exhausting pain. I've always been shaky. But it has gotten worse over the last decade and, worse yet, the last few years. But there are days I can't draw a clean line, even if I chicken-scratch and use stability settings. There are days my hands twitch, and I involuntarily drop or toss my pen in an instant. Art is one of the most important things to me, it is such a big part of who I am. I draw for myself, and sometimes people pay me to draw for them. I love what I do. But I cannot live up to my self-imposed expectations. The clean look is something I always found pride in, but now it takes me days, weeks even, to line one piece because I get burnt out; I am making myself hate
