"I can go by myself." Nana proclaims out loud. "I know you can," replies Rem, "I need the walk anyway." Living on this ship is very odd to the kids. The adults don't talk much and require so much out of them. Daily meals, exercise, schooling. They must remain in one part of the ship at all times. The space they live in has a small court for play, a medical room for checkups, a library for studying. Even though some stuff is hard to read, Rem has managed to read every book. Treet and Jacob tend to stay active and use the court room the most. Nana just wonders around with the boys, no matter how annoying they are to her.
He feels sad for her at times. She has no motherly figure, besides the teacher. Even then she gives her very little attention. She is also the only light skinned person he has seen. "Where is the city?" A voice is heard close to a boy sleeping in a cot. "I don't know, I don't see it." No, two voices... Maybe three. "Get out of the way. I want to take a look." The boy stirs as the commotion begins to wake him. "The planet is so pretty!" A little girl can be heard letting out a short cry as she hits the cot with her back. "Hey!" the boy shouts as he shifts his body to face the window in the living chambers. He sees two other kids standing by the wall while one's hand is extended in place. "Jacob!" His hand quickly retracts as he knows he is caught in the act.
The other child by the window is Treet and the girl is Nana. The boy sits up and begins to stare at Jacob. "Hey, look Rem, it was an accident." Jacob, Blonde hair with blue eyes, says it like it's no big deal but keeps a look of shame. Then turns around to look back out the window. Treet eyes Nana for a second but goes back to looking too. My heart, it won't slow down. I clutch my chest with my right hand and cover my mouth with my left but it just wont slow down. It's beating me like a drum. Trying to escape from the confines of my body. It's running a race that takes it miles away but remains ever beating here inside me. I feel light headed and my body trembles to the rhythm that wont slow down.
I want to regain my composure, try to look sensible. I want to grasp this feeling and take control by the reigns. Almost like taking back a carriage startled by gunshots. I can't help but fall to my knees or grab or lean on so
