The Belly Tree

Oil painting on Canvas - 120x80 cm
On January 2013, an unexpected event made me come up with this idea for a painting. We made a reference photograph that I've used later on to paint this peaceful, though facetious family scene, which was executed during the course of a human pregnancy. The image of the painting came handy to spread the message to the unaware.
The canvas is the same size as "Home and fairies", and could be seen as a sequel to the self-portrait visited by fancies, a decade later. That man grew older but is still painting, at his usual slow pace. He is still prone to his reveries, only his visitors became more real, and natural.
The belly grew bigger, until the man became the proud father of a little girl named Zélie, 6-month-old at the time of speaking, who is obviously, the most adorable among baby trees.
