This is based on the Chinese Zodiac, not western astrology, though I'm considering one of those as well...

Aw man, if I were born a year earlier, I could've been a Meowth.

Fun! I'm amazed that I've never seen this done before. Either I live a sheltered life, or you're a genius! Actually, it could be both! :)

Cool idea.  Sadly, the dates don't go back far enough for me.  ;)

they go in order, so every 12 years back or forward should help you find which one you are.

This is just so cool! Interesting using a Meowth as a tiger. Well, I guess there's no real others. Fun fact: The other Eastern Asians, and also the Thais, have variants of this calendar, but with some substitutions (except for the Mongolians and Koreans, who effectively use the EXACT same ones as the Chinese)....in Japan it's mouse, not rat; boar, not pig; and always sheep (in China it's ambiguous, since the same word is used for "sheep", "ram" and "goat", similarly "mouse" and "rat" are the same). In Vietnam, it's water buffalo instead of ox; and the rabbit is replaced with the cat. The Thais have replaced the dragon with the naga. Apparently this calendar also went into parts of central Asia and Eastern Europe....with the Kazakhs replacing the dragon with the snail, and the tiger with the leopard.
