Bismarck class Battleship

Bismarck class is the second largest class after Brandenburg class dreadnought. It was replacement for over fifty year old Prinz Eitel Friedrich class battleship. Bismarck class enter service some fifteen years ago and was considered second strongest battleship class in human space after United Earth Coalition Kilimanjaro class.  Bismarck is named after both the WWII German battleship and Chancellor of German Empire Otto von Bismarck whom both ships received name. Unlike its WWII predecessor, this Bismarck class is more numerous and in fifteen years of service non of Bismarck class were ever lost,  not even heavily damaged.

Class is pride of German navy and despite larger and more powerful Brandenburg, Bismarck is considered a symbol of Germania might. Despite length of 1250m, ship is quite fast and maneuverable. It carry standard crew of 2000 although it can be operated by only 700 if needed. Ship have large cargo hold, large support craft bay which can carry 40 shuttles, 12 gunships and 72 fighters. Main bay is located on lowest deck for protection, although it have several recovering areas on its heavily armed sides.

To say this class is powerful is not overstated, Bismarck is true behemoth and one reason why Germania didn't build more then 12 dreadnoughts. This ships were considered semi-dreadnoughts by the amount of firepower the carry. Taking that these class is more then capable of engaging any ship in existence and have good change of surviving.  During the war with Chinese Empire Bismarck class was capable of engaging and defeating Imperial battleships without problems even during the final battle, Admiral's Wang flagship, Dreadnought Longshen was disabled but was saved from destruction as case fire came on effect. A year earlier two Russian Kronstadt class battleships challenge GSN Von der Tann, GSN Von der Tann manage to disable both ships with limited crew casualties on Russian side after two ships cross the border without permission. This incident was covered by the public both German and Russian as Russian Admiral Mizov order two ships to cross border to test German military, this was without permission of the Russian command and he was relieved of duty and jailed. Two ships were disabled thanks to fact that commander of GSN Von der Tann, Admiral Hankmann was one of best German commanders and he knew Krondstadt class quite good, his strengths and weaknesses. It is reported that total of two hundred ten Russian crew members died during this short combat, comparing to ten injured on board the Von der Tann. Bismarck class is created to fight Russian Federation and Chinese Empire but also any other who challenge it and unlike massive Brandenburg, it was designed to be built in large numbers.

Bismarck armament consist of 9 520mm Plasma beam cannons in three triple turrets. This weapons are not given to Germania by United Earth Coalition like in case with Japanese Stellar Republic, these were designed and developed in Germania tself. They are slightly less powerful then those used by UEC but stronger then Japanese variant and have very long range. Two 380mm Phased laser beam cannons acting as secondaries, 160 VLS cells for anti-ship missiles, 200 standard missile tubes for anti-ship, anti-fighter/missile and torpedoes, 12 launchers for large and most powerful anti-ship torpedoes in German arsenal, Onix. Ship also carry 20 80mm dual pulse lasers for short to medium defense, 12 40mm pulse lasers and between 200-250 30mm dual pulse lasers.

For defenses ship have large variety, from multiple chaff launchers for decoys, jammers, defense probes, to powerful ECM jamming systems.

Bismarck shields are among strongest in usage, they have large capacity but their recharge is not the fastest one still it was more then enough for ship of this size and with additional shield generators it is possible to improve recharge rate. Ship have strong armor, especially on its sides, if shield fails, its heavy armor will ensure that ship survive longer.

Bismarck class is second best battleship in human space and as such it was hold with high respect of all other human nations. German navy operates 62 Bismarck class battleships, 12 are under construction and at least 50 additional on order. All ships are named after German admirals (17-20 century)

From the class two ships could be consider most notable, GNS Bismarck itself and GNS Mackensen, between these two ships they score over fifty destroyed ships during the war with Chinese Empire. Not a single of Bismarck class ships was destroyed or heavily damaged, so far.

Ships in class:

(Hi, there is several more ships left to finish before i could add them to German navy fleet chart, Dreadnought, Carrier, Missile cruiser, another frigate design possible one or two additional type of ships). Bismarck ended a little bit larger then i expected which made a gap now because the Odin which is largest of cruisers is quite small comparing to battleship. I guess carrier will be between the combat cruiser and battleship on battlecruiser frame so that it fill the gap, dreadnought is gonna be larger, although i did considered to use Bismarck frame for dreadnought however, well i like it as it is. It look good.
