As artists, most of us have dealt with censorship, in one way or another.
As a teen, I experienced censorship from Christians I knew.
As I grew older, there were immature people who seen any artist as weird or perverted.
They had their own form of reality of what art is and what creative people were.
I began to understand the world is not a "universal" civil society,
where everybody commonly understood each other.
My art and my ideals became personal.
I only shared my works with people whom I knew would be interested.
Self censorship? Yes.
People's perception is their "reality".
People DO discriminate. We ALL discriminate in one way or another.
Most discrimination leads to personal censorship.
We have our own personal reasons why.
When we encounter insecure people who get triggered for whatever reason,
they want to censor what they see as offensive to themselves,
and then what they believe the rest of the world has to be protected from.
These people then feel it is their duty to purge the world of what they hate.
Can we deal with people who have can not tolerate anything that disturbs their world view?
When the censors are looking for problems, we ALL have problems.
Today it can be a friends art or writings that is censored.
The next day, it can be YOUR creative works.
We need to fight that sort of censorship.
One of the reasons I enjoy Deviant Art;
We have communities where we can seek out other like minded artists and writers.
IF you don't like that sort of creativity, then don't go there.
Self censorship. It does work.
