I know people's opinions may differ when it comes to Sonic Colors, but I really hope it gets a remake with Hedgehog Engine 2 and Havok.

And we're not gonna talk about the Colors level mods in Generations, since modders aren't able to make all kinds of wisps playable at the moment.

I'm not really sure if games from the past 10 years are considered fair game for remakes. I wouldn't mind to get some remakes of older Sonic games (I'm looking at you SA1 and SA2), but is 10 years really enough time to justify remaking a game from the ground up? Most remakes I've seen take outdated games and make them suitable for a new generation of gamers, and I don't think Colors is really "unsuitable" just yet.

Well, you have a point, but I'm just wondering how Colors would really look like with the help of the hedgehog engine 2, since I think the levels in Colors has the best visual designs in the series. Due to the Wii being underpowered and unable to run the hedgehog engine, the beauty of Sonic Colors isn't fully presented, so I just really wanna see it being revived with the more advanced graphics tech.

But, talking about the SA series... tecnically ther're already remade. (SA1 into SADX and SA2 into SA2B) Although they still look old nowadays, but if they got another remake, I'm sure a bunch of people would get pissed thinking that they ran out of ideas again. I like the SA series too, and I think they're already good in their own ways, plus there are modding communities that can make them even better, and fix some minor problems the games might have at the same time. So there's no reason for the SA series to be remade again.

Yea, it would be nice to see Colors with more advanced graphics, but maybe it's a bit too early to be wondering how it would look. Maybe give it a few more years.

As for the SA thing, I feel like people would get pissed no matter what they do, as shown by the people angry about Mania's overuse of remixed content. Though given all the clamoring for SEGA to hire fans to make an "Adventure Mania" style game after Forces's mixed reception, I don't think it's so ridiculous to remake them or even have SA3 anymore. Besides, after Forces not having a Chaos and Shadow battle left a bad taste in everyone's mouths (I'm not gonna let Sonic Team live that down anytime soon), I think remaking the SA series would be a sign of good faith, saying "we still care about Adventure fans". Just get Sonic Team to stay far away and I'm sure it could work out.

Well, I highly doubt whether they won't screw it up if they actually return to the Adventure formula. It would most probably bring shame to the existing SA series. To me, the reason why they decided not to make games in the Adventure formula anymore is probably because they failed Sonic'06 and they feel that they can't make a decent Adventure formula game anymore. (At least that's what I hope they're thinking). I like the SA series, but I really don't think they should go back to that formula, at least at their current state.

My ideal world is that they produce both boost and Adventure-formula games, but I think that vision shouldn't be realized anytime soon, at least not in the next 2 years. Though given the reception Forces got, I don't know what will become of 3D Sonic now.

True. It's hard to see where they're going next. Probably they're considering creating a new formula again or whatever, We don't even know.

Still don't know what the big deal is about Hedgehog Engine 2. If Forces is their attempt at showcasing, they should go back to the original because gameplay downgraded.

What does the Hedgehog Engine 2 have to do with the gameplay? They're still using havok as the physics engine.

I assumed that was what Hedgehog Engine 2 was supposed to be. I guess I was wrong, so what is Hedgehog Engine 2 supposed to do?

The Hedgehog engine is a graphics engine known for a bunch of advanced lighting features. It's featured in Unleashed, Generations, Lost World, as well as the Sochi Olympics spinoff. And the Hedgehog Engine 2, being an enhanced version of the original, has quite some features improved. To cut it short, its purpose is to provide a better look for the game. And to be honest, the lighting effects and stuff in Forces does look pretty cool.

Ahh, okay, so the engine has nothing to do with gameplay. Well that's a lesson I needed to learn lol. Of course...this does suggest that Sonic Team STILL hasn't learned that players don't care nearly as much about how a game looks as opposed to how it...well...plays. I HATE to make this comparison but maybe they need to take a page out of Mario's book and put more emphasis on making tight gameplay rather than the extras like graphics. Sonic can't compete with Mario anymore, not because of their different concepts, but because Nintendo makes sure no Mario game gets released without extensive work being done on it...Sonic Team needs to do the same, before they reach a point where they just won't be able to do anything anymore because no one wants "meh" games anymore.

True. Nintendo's been notorious for producing underpowered consoles and not-so-good graphics. But the games are fun as heck. And they're slowly keeping up the graphics too, without damaging the gameplay qualities.

Truth is that nowadays there ARE a bunch of people that really cares about how a game looks, but games shouldn't only go for the looks at the expense of its essentials - the gameplay. Sonic Unleashed, without doubt, went for the looks by using the Hedgehog Engine, but it also provides quality level designs and a core gameplay style that has been passed down to Generations (pun entirely intended).

And I think the original Hedgehog Engine is already good enough, even by the standards of today. Generations took a little step back on the graphics, in order to make it run smoother on consoles (since Unleashed's advanced graphics really makes the game lag a lot), but hey, it's still a pretty nice-looking game, at least in my opinion. (Or maybe I'm just too much of a Generations fan? I dunno) So it's really weird that they still decided to put a bunch of effort onto enhancing the already good graphics even more, rather than saving the games' essentials, even when their gameplay is aready going downhill. I mean, Forces's gameplay is decent, but being decent is not enough, since the competitors, such as Mario, are reaching new levels of amazingness rather than staying decent.

But I still won't give up hope. Hopefully they'll fully focus on ensuring the gameplay qualities now that H.E.2 is already done.
