That's rough. But I know how you feel: where I live now only the brightest stars are visible, and even then only if the Moon isn't too bright. It seems to get brighter every year, too. It's among many reasons I hope to move sooner than later. I want to have kids, and I don't want to raise them where they can't even see the stars.
I hope you get the opportunity to see a truly dark sky someday. It's the most breathtaking experience in the world. :)
I grew up where you could see the Orion Nebula as a fuzzy patch in the middle of the Sword with the naked eye. I really miss dark skies like that. :D
The cluster on the left is θ Orionis, and the bright star on the right is ι Orionis. Alnitak is the leftmost star on the belt, but that's quite a distance from the sword at this level of magnification. :)
