PAYPAL SHALL BE NAMED SHITPAL

Journal Entry: Wed Jan 16, 2008, 12:29 AM
Lol I know I got burned by paypal before and would've quit if I didn't have an alternative payment choice for overseas customers (who make up bulk of my art sales) but this is just ridiculous.

PAYPAL ARE LEGALISED SCAMMERS, I recommend that if you can avoid  using them, DO SO! Everyone thinks these complaints are out of the blue wayside and won't happen to them but I'm pretty sure someday paypal will randomly freeze your account (they call it 'limiting' tho the limit means har har we feel like pocketing your funds) and when you attempt to resolve it as par their instructions, they will always claim for more documents, suppliers names or whatever or the most common is to claim that they never received your faxes. Moreover they give u a span of a few days to send in your documents (that time limit INCLUDES the time they spend ' processing' it) and after that you wait and thought they were processing it and you end up with a letter that they say ur time limit is OVER! You will then receive the exact same note that you need to re-do your faxing all over again and wait 2 weeks or 180 days till they ' process' it. I mean what the crap is that.

I recommend this site Paypalsucks.com for true paypal horror stories. These pple are not lying (maybe a few are exaggerating) but the point is I can't believe a major service provider like Paypal are allowed to do what they do. Because they are monopolising the scene they can do whatever they please. And they're not a bank so they dun gotta follow strict banking regulations. They are ruining pple's businesses (I lost income for almost 2 months) and lives and probably the worst case was they randomly froze a charity's account and they are still unable to resolve the case because of the roundabouts paypal is famous for.

My problem this time is not limiting access. It's the discrepancy in currency exchange rate. See the confirmation page exchange rate promised was US$1=S$1.40886

Then after clicking submit I get a thankyou message. Feeling bored I decided to check out the transaction details:

WTH?! The exchange rate is now 1.39715! An outdated rate is being used for the processing! I know it's only 2 cents difference per dollar but it adds up and compromising on what they promised. Crooks! I lost 2 bucks. What if I withdraw more? Good thing I've learnt to never to accumulate my funds. I dun care if its  a difference in 10cents or 10bux, I hate companies who dun show signs of integrity.

So I sent off a letter explaining my cause n want them to explain that and reimburse me the rates promised. Dear Frank replied me:

LMAO I can't even reply back cuz the reply goes back to the Help form and Frank can't and will not help me because he said I know the rates fluctuate yes they fluctuate but their rates are on a daily basis not bloody SECONDS basis after I clicked submit. but he's so moronic that he didn't read my complaint!! Funniest shat I've seen in a while. I reallyyyy hate paypal and ebay. I'll be shifting to etsy soon and I'm very careful with my funds in paypal. NEVER leave your funds in paypal. cuz they're not a bank and if anyone 'suspicious' or linked to your account in the minutest way of being 'suspicious' you WILL get freezed. Paypal arara you are hereby SHITPAL!

Open! Note me if you're interested!

I personally never had a problem with Paypal, as of yet, but I can see how it would happen, especially with overseas clients.

I think I heard somewhere that if you have anything over $100, you should just transfer it to your bank before any complications occur.

yea i didn't have problem for 3 years until paypal decided to pull a random verification crap of limiting my acc. I think it was because someone who transfered me cash was 'suspicious'. it happens to anyone and complaints I've seen are equally bad whether in US or overseas since online transactions are global. What a nightmare. at least you can threaten with a lawsuit in the US.

and yes I withdraw as soon as i can but I also wait for exchange rates to go up and morever there's a surcharge (yet again) if i withdraw anything less than S$200 to my bank account. so i'm always feeling finicky abt accumulating funds, but sometimes no choice =(

Ah, I see. Kinda disappointing though for a company with such a high reputation causing so much trouble. It's a good thing you keep very close watch of your money. I feel bad for those being scammed without their knowledge.

sooner or later it happens to everyone, until paypal gets shut down. if any of your buyers are suddenly limited, you get limited too. or if you pay a seller who suddenly gets limited, you will get frozen too. it's so nonsensical it totally baffles me

Normally I ask peoples to wire over to local bank. Safer and better exchange rates.

Paypal exchange rates really sux big times.

I will not used it unless the customers or clients insisted
Then i request them to pay up for the extra charge of 3.4% deduction by paypal and the few cents different rates . Hehe

yes thank goodness for local bank transfer. paypal is strictly for overseas and no choice for small ticket items that I'm selling cuz cheque also cannot. post office dun even accept US postal order. and paypal exchange rate always so low, they take 3.5%+30cents fees and den do exchange rates still charge us hidden commission.

You need to ask your bank for their SWIFT address. I think bank deducted 10 SGD per transaction and normally it will take 1 to 3 days .
