Yes I'm back for a new journal entry... AND ANOTHER 2 YEARS since!

Thank you for adding my artworks to your faves and watch. I am seldom here but haven't fully left because my Ghibli club is still running (or not really as it is mostly on autopilot).

Instagram, my blog & Facebook is where I post my new stuff and communicate so if you'd like to follow me and vice versa, please check out the links below!

Currently I am focusing on releasing digital stamps and clip art in my shop so I don't have the luxury of time to fiddle with original art like in the past. I also run an online vintage shop and that takes up a bulk of my time.

If you'd like to contact me for commissions, please feel free to e-mail me. If you have a tight budget and just want something for personal use, let's see if we can work something out. It all depends on how long I take to do it.

Once again I gotta mention most of my former DA friends have moved on so it has been quiet. Everyone is getting older, starting families, busy with their careers, and of course this site is more skewed towards the teenage demographic and focused on anime so yeah we had to leave sooner or later for greener pastures and find matching audience for work or focus on another career altogether. Besides some drama back then - if you remember it - that led to some exodus of artists lol. So Instagram is it, since the general public, professionals, amateurs and everything in between keep the network engaging.

It has been over a decade and things should change but it seems to be going downhill here. Back then it was common to receive many insightful comments, do collabs, genuine interaction and forge friendships between artists who want to help each other out. Nowadays even the most popular ones get only a handful of comments, of which I'm not surprised if the majority of comments is a single word lol. Like a hit and run thing.

Anyhow if you're ever back here reading this, don't forget to say hi! As for those who are still submitting, keep up the good work!

Have a great 2016 and years ahead, and I'll see ya in 2018 for my next journal entry if I don't forget or am still around

It is sad for sure...
I know I haven't been active, but it's because of a multitude of issues, family tragedy, health issues, etc...
But even many years ago, I could say the same things about DA...  I can't pinpoint the drama you may be talking about, there were many instances of drama going around from what I remember >o>;;
In general I just see a downhill progression with all of the social media.. this whole internet culture, the chaos of nonstop information, things bombarding you...
People do not even have time to really talk to eachother properly, but will text short messages.
There is so much being posted, and so many people have lost any patience because of this, to stop and really appreciate something with more than one word...
People need to look at more and more and more, no time to slow down...  And the way sites are set up, they allow people to like something, and go onto the next thing, so it's all about speed...
It's less of a giving relationship, more of a taking relationship... The "internet" provides, the viewers take... We become less human, if we don't take the time to stop and remember there is a real person on the other side... to value ourselves more too, and not get sucked into needing to consume so much...
Not everyone is like this, some people still find balance, but more and more younger people have grown up with this since childhood.

But also this is something that I have reflected on... all of these distractions, including art.. all of this need to feed the senses...
People are being blinded to more important things happening in the world, they instead are hunting for the next fix, the next fix, the next fix...
I have been feeling better since I have spent more time around people who don't even have computers or smart phones, no fixation with the internet and things...

I totally agree. A bombardment of info! Back then the only social thing art-wise was this site, my guestbook and yahoo groups lol. There is only so much time in 24 hours, we can't all comment on everything we like, or think of different comments. And yes society on the whole, esp the younger folks have shorter attention spans. the 'Like' button on fb could've been one of the catalysts for it. Oh well, at least social media has opened more opportunities and we can network all at once which is rather important, so it is a win some lose some issue. Kinda sad though!

Hope your situation improves soon

Greetings, Yuzukko!

It's good to hear from you. Yeah, this place does have a big teenage presence... always has, from my point of view. And you're right... I have seen some of my DA people leave to pursue careers and families and what have you.

Enjoy the new year. :)

thank you for your comment again Kronos. Yes the teen base has grown quite significantly. I joined when past my teens which is wow  like 11 years ago lol, maybe it was just the people I watched but most of our dA friends were in their early 20s back then, some in their late 20s-30s (usually the photographers & designers). sad but nice to see them graduate of sorts =)
Have a great year ahead too :D
