Another sculpture I made a while ago when I was still in high school. This is made of low fire sculptor clay, and colored with watercolor. It's about 10 inches in height and 11 inches in length. I don't remember how long it took.

I made this after going on an AP Bio zoo field trip and we had to do a little research on 50 animals. This was one of the animals on the list and I loved it so much that I made a sculpture of it. I think I didn't make the legs long enough....

Here's a little info on this amazing animal if you're interested. The Maned Wolf is a type of fox/wolf like canine that belongs in its own genus and has extremely long legs adapted to the high grass lands of South America. They use to be hunted because they were thought as a threat to humans and livestock, which was false, and they were also hunted for their eyeballs (wtf?) because it was thought to be a good luck charm. They are currently under government protection (unlike the wolves in America *coughdamnyouBushcough*) and they are near threatened/ vulnerable but their numbers are fairly stable and are not critically endangered.

He's like a symbol of brazilian's cerrado (something like savana), here we call it LOBO GUARÁ, i had the pleasure to see one of those on the zoo. I love them too, they are (still) not in danger, but if they keep destroying its habitat, that can change, fortunetly its forbidden to hunt the maned wolves, but the agriculture is still the main economical activity in Brazil, so through the years they have been loosing their territory, another aspect that contributes to it's deaths are the highways, they pass through their habitat, killing not only maned wolves, but other animals, its very sad (at least for me)...

i think they can be found in Peru and Argentina, but i'm not sure.

By the way the sculpture is AMAZING, after seeing this ill try to do something, not the maned wolf, at least not by now, i'll start with simple things haha

PS: sorry for my english, im still learning it (mostly by myself, reading online english-translated mangas haha)

I love maned wolves!
the legs look quite okay, actually. I once drew a Maned Wolf, and I made the legs too long. but this sculpture looks OK.

In fact I believe the legs are not ok, they're a little shorter. But anyway it's an awesome sculpture!
