Dolphin Sculpture by yuumei Dolphin Sculpture by yuumei
this is a sculpture of three dolphines that I did a long long time ago (over 2 years...). I made this for my mom in exchange for a wacom tablet XD the trade so totally worth it.

There's nothing much about....the sculpture is made with clay (I forgot which kind) spray painted for a base coat, brushed with metalic wax, then painted over with fabric paint (I have no idea why I used those materials....)

Enjoy!

I myself, wuld DFINATLY buy a commission form you if of course, you can acept anything besides paypal...

Just a thought.

I wish i could sculpt, but the one time that i did i relized years later that my mom never knew what it was... O_o
It was two blue birds on a nest, and all these years she tought they were snails and i was gong through a "phase" at the time. Damn.

How did you make the water? Did you attach pieces of clay to it and then carved it to a finer shape? The water just amazes me!

So worth it, yay for the tablet!!

And your sculpting skills amaze me too, you're one talented deviant. And now on to the good stuff :)
Woah man, your waves are freaking amazing!! They're so so detailed, and the little-silver-ball-thing makes me go "Bubbles!!" It's cute ;)

Plus the dolphins are sooooo cool, they are very nicely shaped, and you've captured their playfulness perfectly! And my personal favourite is the one on right, in the largest picture, because his/her smile is sooooo well done/accurate/adorable.

As a little extra: the lighting in the picture is really well done~ It looks like they have wet, gleaming skin.

Crit: I guess my crit would be that the colours aren't perfect. But hey, no one's perfect, and I suspect that that could have something to do either with the camera or with my screen.... It's an unfamiliar one you see, and I can't get to my own one very quickly...~cough~ Back to the colours: I reckon the dolphins are mostly fine, except mabe you could have made their underbellies a bit lighter? And I think that the water is a little too silver... Actually, now that I think about it, I can't imagine what else you could have done... blue wouldn't really work... So I guess maybe a little greeny-blue? But then again, that would mean a whole tube/tub of green paint would go to waste...

Um, yeah. I'll stop rambling now, and let you get back to updating your account/surfing on deviantART.

Waaaaaaaaiiii!!! *huggles j00* It's a very pretty & lifelike sculpture indeed. I think you did especially well with the waves & making them look like the dolphins are actually splashing out of them. Whatever combination of medium you used, the end result is definitely awesome - the metallic wax really gives the dolphins that slick, shiny look their skins have  KUDOS!!!

Wow, those waves are simply awesome!

And I really love how you sculpted the waves, they look sort of abstract, and kinda reflect coral 8D

This reminds me of the tiny dolphin figurines that I have at work. They're really cute and all, but they keep being knocked down by the customers.....>O
