Background: Kuo is an orphan who was raised in a home with many others like him. He was a happy if quiet child and signed up for the military as soon as he was of age. Kuo was an Officer Cadet in the People's Liberation Army before a gunshot wound on the field saw him discharged from duty and promoted to Second Lieutenant. Though the professional opinion was that he might never wake or at the very least suffer severe brain damage, Kuo came out of his sleep six days later. By no small miracle, the remaining effects of his injury were limited to a memory problem, colour blindness, and deafness in his left ear. The shot also resulted in localized hair follicle damage which he doesn't bother to hide.

After his release he returned to the home and helped out for a while, enjoying time with the next generation of children. He began to learn Chinese medicine from one of his old mentors and specialized in the ancient arts of massage, acupuncture and cupping therapies. Finding new purpose, he decided to travel with this new-found knowledge and share the healing art. He ended up working on Ki Island in the semi-popular Sparadise after one of his previous and more curious doctors, Carrik Weiss, wrote to him about the resort island's opening.

While this purpose had served to keep him happy for a number of years, the creeping tumult of local crime and injustice stirred some previously sleeping sentiments back to life. Carrik was once again there to less-than-gently push his friend forward, and once the rumour of his intention spread he dedicated his mouldering pile of government payout money to open up his office: Penguin PI. He relocated on Ki entirely, using the space of the old Sandbox Motel in no small part thanks to Mayor Taryn Bell Doughty's generosity and insistence. 

Personality: As a former soldier, Kuo is rather stoic by nature. Sometimes this can seem like austerity or even arrogance but it's just the manner in which he has trained. He doesn't really initiate much nonsense himself but he does have a bit of a soft spot for that silliness in others, considering it a "zest for life." He'll crack plenty of smiles or laugh at even the most ridiculous of antics (Which is probably why he kept in touch with Dr Weiss, let's be fair.)

He's disciplined in both work and routine, sticking to strict diet plans and exercise to keep himself in good condition. When he chooses to relax it is usually with something active like running or tai chi. He is also practiced in combat martial arts Duan Quan and Chuojiao.

Perhaps if his military upbringing hadn't been what it was his most curious trait would be his neuroses for cleanliness. Kuo's house is immaculate and he's not above dressing for the nature of the job (this means aprons) and getting down and dirty to make things sparkle. It's not that he hates an untidy room, but he'd be willing to organize even a stranger's living quarters until they were satisfactory.

Where to Find Kuo: Wherever a party needs to be saved. Wherever there are masks, wherever there’s tomfoolery and joy. Out in the night, staying vigilant...

Since his employment upgrade Kuo doesn't really know much chill. If he's not at the office he's out there, investigating something. He's not exactly the type to go on no evidence but well sometimes his hunches can be a little off. When he's not working on his own cases he cooperates with the local police force, and when he's not doing that he's probably volunteering for some other crummy job. And if he really can't find any form of work to busy himself with he can be seen jogging along just about any beach in just about any weather. He also keeps a small herb garden, though the move has reduced its size.

As a Prospective Marriage Partner: Kuo has had an assortment of passionate and short-lived romances in the past thanks to his career path. There have been a few people to hold his interest through the long months in the field, but the insufferable distance and persistent stints apart were usually too much for the other party. As a result he became very detached in starting and ending any one fling. Now that time is on his side, and he has made a home for himself, he is looking for something long-term and wholly satisfying, however he will wait to make too much effort if his partner is not showing the same resolution.

Once tied down, Kuo can be extremely doting. He cooks well, cleans well, keeps a steady routine, and is quietly affectionate to a fault. While he does agonize over some of his past failures he is not the type to show jealousy or insecurity very easily, instead he will keep these emotions to himself and become something of a martyr. To truly unlock his heart is to share weaknesses and support each other through the hard times.
