Description

While checking out Persona 5 videos, I was remembered of a quote that fit Karyana's story (first part can be found here: www.amazon.com/Karyanas-Journe…): "The brighter the light, the longer the shadow." Given that I ended up using ideas for psychology for Karyana's sisters and past self, I thought that it could be interesting to draw a Persona based on the many facets of my character.

It took me some searching to get an idea, until I remembered something a myth I found interesting: the Demiurge. In Gnostic beliefs, Sophia - who represents the feminine aspects of God - fell from grace and in her suffering (fear of death) created matter and soul. This also led to the birth of the Demiurge, also known as Yaldabaoth (translated as "Son of Chaos"), who creates the physical world. In a text called 'Pistis Sophia', Christ himself is sent to rescue Sophia from her suffering and awaken her to her 'fullness', thus giving her the knowledge of 'spirit'. As stated in the Wiki article (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sophia_(…): "For the Gnostics, the drama of the redemption of the Sophia through Christ or the Logos is the central drama of the universe. The Sophia resides in all of us as the Divine Spark."

For this one, I decided to go for the Arcana "Judgment". The reason? First, this Arcana is sometimes switched by "The Aeon" which Sophia is. Second, the description of the card: "The Aeon is the trump of time and the changes dictated by the times, it addresses finality and destruction as well as liberation, hope and redemption."

Sophia's skin is meant to mimic Laelynn (C - Laelynn ) and the armor is a combination of Karyana's and Kaina's. Each of the four arms represent one of Karyana's other selves (clockwise): Kaina, Laurinya, Melody and Lily. I also deliberately left the hair length uneven to represent how some of Karyana's selves have short hair (Melody, Lily and Kaina) while the others have long hair (Laurinya and Karyana). The chain that's latched against her leg represents the 'chains of strife' that she was sent to break, not knowing that she has her own to deal with.

The five wings on each side represent her allies and enemies: Alban, Turalyon, Yu Shaia, Demyan and Onyx for the angel wings; Volkram Niros, Iron-Chain Pison, Kadlak the Merciless, Xamaris of Cald and Lyzar Shardoak. I could have added one more wing on both sides, but was unsure as to where to place them.
