Hey, everyone! My name is Yu, and I'm a costume maker, dancer, performer, and doodler from the Pacific Northwest. I participate in the furry fandom as well as a few anime/manga ones, including Juuni Taisen, Owari no Seraph, and Vocaloid (not technically an anime, but you get the idea).
My fursona is Yu, a blue and purple tufted puffin/pelican hybrid ("tufted pufflican").

Yesterday was the official debut of my cosplay of Drossel Keinz from the Black Butler anime! This costume gets the award among all of my cosplays for “most procrastinated on” – I had the inkling of an idea to cosplay Drossel when I first started cosplaying back in 2011~2012, and continuously considered doing so until now, when I finally did in reality.
2011~2012 is also when I was most into Black Butler, but I haven’t seen it since then, so I’m not at all caught up on the anime or manga, aside from a venture with my friends to go watch Book of the Atlantic while it was in theaters in my area. So Drossel is primarily a nostalgia cosplay for me, although it would be a lie to say I’m not still attached to him as a character.
I constructed from scratch all of the primarily visible parts of this cosplay – the hat, coat and pants – and also styled the wig quite a bit. The whole costume took about (well, almost exactly) 40 hours to put together, 30 of which were spent solely on the coat so I could get it to look just right. All things considered, I’m happy with the result, and I can’t wait to bring Drossel to Kumoricon in Portland, OR this October!
