I was having too much trouble picturing the worlds I wanted to create, so I'm attempting to learn to draw so I can capture them in digital art.

I've created this gallery to share with anyone interested my journey from knowing absolutely nothing about drawing, painting, or art to achieving my dream of creating a world.

Will I make it? I'll give it a solid maybe.

I'm completely new to art, so all galleries that you see are just collections of my practice works. They are intended to show curious deviants a step-by-step evolution of a dedicated digital artist in training.

As of January 18, I'm changing the function of each collection:

AMBITION - Original pieces of humans from imagination.
PERSEVERANCE - Landscape paintings from imagination as well as studies from reference.
DISCIPLINE - Human and landscape pieces either from reference or from imagination, but with a specific goal in mind. Most folks would call them "studies."

Every artist needs a little encouragement here and there! :shakefist:

So I discovered, very sadly, that keeping up with DeviantArt was taking up hours and hours of valuable study and art time. I'm reclaiming that time, right now, which is why I haven't been on. I'll have to take the way of the pros and post sparingly u...

So I'll be off-grid for a while - I'm putting some time into learning to draw better rather than focusing on painting. I think the drawing skills are a large part of what's missing from my work. Back to basics, right?

Since I submitted my first digital painting, that is. That's the date that I chose to measure my progress with, because it's the date that I decided to put effort into study and learn the techniques behind drawing and painting. It opened the door to a huge world, and I've only just stepped past the threshold. I could say 100 things, but it would just bore everyone, so I'll just show some progress. Instead of using my May 31, 2017 submission as a benchmark, I think I'll use Ambition 5 from June 21 last year. It's about the point at which I decided what I wanted to do and where I wanted to go, and it was the first digital painting that I was a

Happy Birthday!:) (Smile)
Thanks for the fav. :)
Hello! If you don't mind me asking, but could you critique me? You seem to know a lot about artwork and the human body. I need help finding mistakes in my latest piece. My most vulnerable part of artwork is posing and (very obviously) proportions, and I would like professional help. Thank you!

Hi there! I'm no expert on human anatomy since I'm still very much in a learning phase (I started learning art in the summer of 2017), but I'll be glad to give you whatever advice I can give based on the knowledge I have!
