Beautiful work, especially for the first time painting on feathers. (I do as well, though I've never attempted something this detailed). Canada goose feather?

thank you! it really appreciated! i learned that i should have probably done something less detailed for the first time, because this gave me so many problems haha. and yes, they are canadian goose feathers. my mom lives near a pond and i went up there one day with a bag and picked up the feathers that were on the ground once the geese flew off. i wasn't sure what feathers are legal to have besides these ones.

unfortunately, not many wild feathers are- it's best to stick to farm-raised type birds (such as the different types of chickens, geese, turkeys, ect), and any pet birds that are legal to own.

Try searching online for "heritage breed" turkey feathers- they come in many different colors and patterns, and often mimic the non-legal feathers of owls and hawks. (I buy mine on ebay when they have them)
