That’s funny because...I actually thought the same thing, and I came up with one idea with how I would write James Gray's spiderman origin:

So James Gray is a student that goes to Midtown High School and has great interest in technology and science but also has A great interest in Pro Skating, when he skateboards it does help with his anxiety that he deals with since dealing with bullying during childhood. After years of living with His mom and dad Raymond Gray and Angelina Gray, James began to excel in school but didn't have a lot of friends during his high school years except for Ned Leeds (Who's based off Ned Leeds from the MCU)

His father Raymond Gray is a brilliant scientist working for Oscorp and Norman Osborn is The CEO And his father's colleague is Dr. Connors (Who would be the Spider-Man villain the Lizard who James eventually faces)

My character would be kind of A blend of Tom Holland's Peter Parker and Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker but James does deal with anxiety, nervousness and fears A teenager does At his age at 16. I will be borrowing a bit of elements from other versions of Spider-man but keep my spider-sona protagonist new and interesting on his own.

Is that a good idea? I have more ideas I think you'll like.

Well maybe you could change other things because even if your character James Gray is truly original his universe isn't, Ned Leeds, Norman Osborn, Dr Connors… they are all the sames. I'm not saying you shouldn't use them or that you should replace them by other characters but maybe you could change them a little : for example Ned could be more athletic, Norman Osborn could be a nice guy, Dr Connors could be a woman. Just some ideas...
