The knotty Serpent hook by Yonaka-Yamako The knotty Serpent hook by Yonaka-Yamako
Walrus ivory. I had a little too much fun with this one. This particular tatting hook is approximately 4 inches long.

In private collection.

I may have asked you this before but have you ever considered making felting needle handles? Your work is so very cool!!

I have in hardwood dowel. The poor thing isn't glamorous, but she works nicely for me and I can hold my 9 std like a pencil. ^_^ My "stylus" can be found here: [link] Looking for something you can hold without cramping your hand? ;)

That is so beautiful. Where do you find walrus ivory? And is it softer than wood? anyway, I love hey curly lips and horns.

Walrus ivory is a little harder than wood but it depends on the wood too.

Every now and then I'm fortunate to locate a cache of pre-Marine Mammals Act material. This happened to be part of an estate sale of a whaling era property and among bric-a-brak in a box. The price was right.
