Back to the past

Fell in love with "Titanic" recently.

I'm really ashamed to say I never understood the beauty and depth of this film when I was younger.

But as I watched it a few days ago ,  I cried for the first time watching this movie. Never did in the past. Guess as you get older , you tend to understand so much more.

I love the way these people put their sentences together.

:bulletblue: Marvel at her speed.
:bulletblue: Very charming.
:bulletblue: Thank you for your discretion.

I reckon their use of language is very polite compared to the ones used nowadays.
Let me just give a few examples here..

Past :bulletgreen: - I want them to 'marvel at her speed!'

Nowadays :bulletred: - OMG , she's 'so fucking fast! '

Any of you sensed the difference here?

When you're actually really giving someone a compliment. It's so much better if it's being put in a way as the sentence of the "past"
Instead of including all the words like "Damn shit , this is so fucking good!" . What the hell! That's so fucking awesome!" " This shit is good!" . - -__-'''
All these "F" words just seem to ruin a good compliment.

Whenever I see some commenting on my youtube videos , I really wish they could really use sentences like those. Instead of all these" this is fucking awesome / freaking epic etc..
No to offense anyone but , I've always felt that for a compliment to be put in such a way , it just sounds more like a "sarcasm sort of compliment" .. at least to me that is.

And ah yes , how could I forget to mention about hero in this movie. Jack Dawson.
Right , right , a movie character or what not , sometimes , by just watching all his caring personality and attitude towards another person.
It just makes me really wonder... if there's still men with such pure hearts out there.

:bulletorange: The I'm flying scene :bulletorange:

This is one of my favorite scenes.

( Some people out there might make fun of the silly pose when Rose stands on the railing with her hands wide open. Or where the part Jack shouts out to the Ocean claiming He's the King of the world. )

But.. if they actually imagine themselves as Rose in the "I'm flying" scene , they'd be real touched.

The moment Jack held her and as he opens up her arms to the winds , you see that Jack has showed Rose the meaning of freedom which she had yearned for.

Simple , without much words. He opened her heart to pure freedom.

Of course , after that comes the " Portrait scene " , definitely adore the way he works with the charcoal. I might have to dig out my long abandoned charcoal.

Then of course .. :bulletorange: The car scene :bulletorange:

Let me ask , how many guys or men nowadays still treats women and girls like Jack did?

- He asks if she's nervous.
- He who does not just pounce on her just because the idea of they're about to do it comes up.
- He who actually waits for her to be sure that she wants it , then approaches gently.

Seriously. Nowadays..most of the time it's like.. the minute they're kissing on the bed / couch etc, it's ON.
They JUST want to do it.

:bulletorange: You jump , I jump scene :bulletorange:

All who has watched Titanic knows this scene is ... well , let's not talk about it =/

Then of course, the part that made my eyes so teary that I had to rewind the movie just to watch it again is the part where in the end , when aged Rose said..

:bulletwhite: " Now that you know that there's a man named Jack Dawson.. and that he saved me , in EVERY WAY THAT A PERSON CAN BE SAVED" :bulletwhite:

I swear that's the part I just can't help but tear up every time. To me , it's one of the most beautiful quotes in this movie really.

I agree.. I dislike how men treat woem these days.. I believe every man should act the way Jack does.. these days there is hardly any compassion any more. I also agree with the bit about the sentences, if you ask me, people make themselves look foolish when they speak/write like that. Overall, I believe that Titanic is one of the best movies out there, where these days, most movies are just about action/s**/etc., and some scenes are just.. I don't even know what words to use to describe..

Hmm… We are indeed losing formal speech habits and politeness. Personally, outside of reviews and comments, I tend to be less-than-formal in how I talk and present myself. Well, in real life there are times where I have to be polite and formal–going to a play I am respectful to the actors and others around me, since it's a very personal experience, and even though I have a humble (too polite a word for it) cashier job, I try to be as kind and respectful as I can be to customers. I have noticed though that online people have said things like, "wow, you like to type" due to the detail I put in my comments back, and how much I like online discussions. In real life, I sometimes have confused people with my vocabulary. The point is, I think we're losing old vocabulary and while it shows sophistication to use public formality and speech formality, society deems it strange or doesn't understand it.

I can't say I would know about guys and intimate aspects of life, but I can say that Jack seems quite a rare character among many. Actually, I guess I would know after my mom got back into the dating scene and has told me about all the guys who really are just hungry for a one-night-stand. She also nearly got her heart broken by moving too fast with one guy who didn't give a damn about her afterward. That was one time where I certainly lost my formality. :)

I guess most people tend to be less formal when we actually speak nowadays. Cause in a way , no one's really going to speak in a formal way back to us. It'd be really weird if a convo were to went like this..

:bulletblue: - Pleasant day isn't it?
:bulletred: Yeah , yo so wassup?

Well , sorry to hear about what the guy did to your mom there.
Haha , well it's reasonable for one to lose their formality when they're extremely upset / mad =x

I have to tell ya, Yokoshiro...I have felt that way for a very long time. Swears are so overused (not to mention classless) nowadays. I'll second the fact that it's polite and add that it's more creative! AND it has WAY more impact than the more common words/wordage. *amen*

Jack is what some people would call a 'surprise hero'. He's not rich. He isn't super strong or what have you. He is just a nice guy...selfless, kind, with an open mind. A lot of things I wish a lot more people had in common with him!

Oh, there are men that are careful with the ladies about sex. I have had many a boyfriend that made sure I was ready for whatever (not necessarily "the whole shabang"...even something as simple as a kiss!). They respected me and respected my body. They knew that was important to me. A lot of them just weren't right for me in other ways. They do exist. It's just finding them..."diamonds in the rough".

P.S. - "Now that you know that there's a man named Jack Dawson.. and that he saved me , in EVERY WAY THAT A PERSON CAN BE SAVED" One of my favorite parts too. ^.^

Not just creative. It sounds more classy and interesting. Idk how to say this , perhaps like it's much more pleasing to the ears too in a way. And mannerism of course.

Indeed. I definitely love open minded people.
Sometimes it's nice if people could try standing at other's point of view and try to understand how he/she feels and see things. And yes , meeting nice and kind people like that nowadays is a rare thing. =/

Well , I'd say you're very lucky there =]

And yeah , definitely my favorite quote. Sums up almost the whole journey of Jack and Rose.
He has definitely saved her in every way that a person could be saved.

i still cried when i was little cause all i saw was people and children dying! i watched the whole thing it made me cry soooo much! reading this made me understand it more though! i want to watch it again, but not in 3D cause those movies kill my brain. you seem like a fascinating person(not specimen). i like how you talked about this.
Yokoshiro Featured By Owner Apr 12, 2012   Digital Artist
Hmm I'm not much of a 3D person too. But then again I heard some good reviews about the movie. I think they added the deleted scenes into the new 3D version. =]
Yeah , I like to see things more than just what has been shown. Discover the depth and meaning of things.
And thanks =] Glad that you can also understand a bit more now haha

Oh this world is an interesting one really. The past to the present, there are so many differences to be seen and, it would make sense given the parameters, that their would be. I'm glad that there are people like you in the world who think about things like this, who take the time to really contemplate what could be so much better in the world. Our world has a problem right now, a really big problem, with the way its systems work. Greed runs the show, and rational caring takes a far back seat in the grand scheme of things, if it's ever even allowed entrance! I think you are correct to be concerned with this matter. I often wonder if there are people who are able to take the time to think about these things, but I of course know there must be, since I do too.

I wish that the priorities of nations were more rational and obliged to educating and preparing our population's children and youth, instead of trying to cram them into strict roles and jobs with minimal effort!

Great topic! :)

Indeed. Hopefully there are more people out there who have these thoughts on their minds too =/

Yes, definitely, but I would say there is a place and moment to understand everything ;P.

I'm totally up with you. There is no need to spit at good manners to express yourself, even if you're angry.

About the movie. I watched the original back in time -a LOT of times haha-, and I liked. It's a love story afterall, whoever went to watch it and expected something else, they were at the wrong place.

"How many guys or men nowadays still treats women and girls like Jack did?" <--- My grandmother (RIP) used to told me "A man is over his neck, below that point they are all the same". Anyway, it's still a movie -good one-, fantasy. Not even back in time there used to be too many Jack Darrow, imo.

That's right. I mean if it's going to be a compliment , people should express it in a more beautiful way and sentence. *Or maybe I'm just feeling kind of poem-tic atm haha*

Yeah though Romance comes first. But they also did a good job showing the fear of those people during the sinking of Titanic.
After watching , I actually try to imagine that I'm one of those on the ship , and .. it was actually pretty creepy o_O

Haha yeah maybe yes , maybe no. But at least after this movie , it just made me wonder if "there is" such men back in time =]
