Today a threat arrives
Today I'm running again
Or rather,
I'm running away

One sister is a prodigy
The other's loved by all
How am I supposed to even
Be anything compared to them?

With intelligence and popularity
Impossible to compete with
I instead start to hone
My physical body

So all I know
Is how to run
Or rather,
How to run away

School is hard, but my sisters help
One assists me with homework
The other prevents me from being a loser
I can't do anything by myself

Except in the morning
When I get up at dawn
And sprint into the sunrise
All of my insecurities melt away

After first grade
Everything turns bleak
My sisters stop smiling
So I smile for them

Even though I'm scared
And want to cry too
I must stay happy
Someone must be happy

My sisters remain amazing
I'm still nothing
So why am I
The only one who can smile?

One day my speed
Is noticed by a coach
I'm placed on track and field
Soon trophies fill my room

Even so these gilded objects
Do nothing to lift my spirits
Yet I continue to run
Or rather, run away

My false happiness
Seems to fool a girl
Soon we're friends
And others come into our group

These friends are great
But they don't fill this void
How am I supposed to be anything
When my sisters are everything?

One day I find myself
Running faster than ever before
To me everything appears to be
In slow motion

So I go in search of
The local town heroine
A girl clad in purple
Another person better than me

She helps me hone my abilities
Even when I almost
Lose my grip on reality
Soon I too am a hero

For once I have something
To feel proud of
For once I can run
Without running away

And the smile I have
While chasing down a monster
For once in my life
Is genuine

There are two things I Will never forget from that night: The horrible screams of people Running from their plight and The tears running freely Down my face. They told us nothing was wrong, Although their eyes were wide with fear. “Listen to me!” my father said, “Everything will be alright, Dear.” But the tears were running freely Down my face. “The ship’s unsinkable! This must be some mistake!” My mother’s face was grim And her hands began to shake. And the tears ran freely Down her face. I stepped into the lifeboat Not wanting to believe. I cried out to my father. He wasn

You are the first You are the last You are the present You are the past You are my soul You are my light You are my life raft You are my knight New mercies each day You have given to me Because of You I believe Even though I miss the mark And sin pulls us Farther apart You make me strong You never let me go I know this because You love me so.

listen: fall makes me think of leaving and of apple cider, though i never liked apple cider. but i liked the idea of it. listen: two years ago i met a boy as fragile as dead leaves who called me his little spring girl. (i'd always liked autumn the best.) he kissed the two soft dimples on the small of my back and told me helikedme helovedme hewantedme. and oh, by the way, "everything good must come to an end." listen: on our one year anniversary we picked out two pumpkins and i drew elephants on them for us to carve. he cut his out so aggressively that it lost its shape. lopped off tusks and broken trunks became just a large, jagged ho

Let me tell you, this person's story was a whole lot less sad before I wrote this poem.

Then it took control of the reigns and brought me straight to Feelidelphia.
