Becoming a Legend - Chapter 8, Part 1
Carnage        Two weeks passed in relative calm. Ranloo and his friends spent the time breaking in and stealing for the guild. They learned to stay well away from the city guards and began to hang out when they had free time as well, simply enjoying each others' company. They were no longer too scared around the vampire. And when they were calm, Ranloo could be with them without too much worry, even though his hunger increased slightly every day on the animal diet. He tried hard to suppress his hunger, and he was getting better at it, he thought.        Listarl had laughed until he cried when the elf had shown him the sword and told the

´What did you throw at him?` Felisei asked the chemist then. The small man shrugged with a smile tugging at his lips.        ´Just a very bad smelling liquid,` he replied. Felisei laughed and brushed back her hair from her face.        ´I thought it might have been poison again,` she said in a half whisper, her eyes wide.        ´I don't usually do that, you know,` he said, slightly affronted. ´I only did that back then because it was an emergency.` She nodded and turned to the elf.        ´Why did we suddenly turn back?` she asked, genuinely confused. ´We were getting away from them, and the

´Come,` Lasal whispered to Ilaros as he hurried to their rooms. Ilaros rushed after his friend, wondering what mischief Lasal was up to now. They went into Lasal's room and he closed the door carefully and locked it.        ´What?` Ilaros said, a curious smile on his face.        ´They are vampire hunters!` Lasal said needlessly.        ´I know. And?`        ´They'll try to kill the vampire,` he pointed out. Ilaros nodded, not following.        ´Yes? That's what they do.`        ´Yes, of course. But I want...` he hesitated. Ilaros frowned and put a hand on Lasal's shoulder.        ´Wh

The vampire hunters spent the following day talking with the Eldon priests and discussing plans with the paladins. They couldn't use the city guards anymore, at least not to the extent that they had for the last weeks. They needed the paladins to be in the streets, to keep the vampires at bay, to keep people safe and to be able to fight them if they found them. Tealas told them about the rogue vampire they were hunting, but also mentioned the possible clan that was stirring in the area. The paladins and priests were happy to help rid the world of the dark creatures.        Garvin Asiid, the highest ranking Eldon priest in the temple

On a chair by a fireplace sat a big man in an open, sleeveless leather vest, black leather trousers and boots. He had a large axe standing beside him, leaned against the chair. He looked young, Ranloo thought as he saw him. But big and strong, and liking to show it off. He had short, dark brown hair and a short cropped beard that covered his chin and circled around his mouth, attached to a mustache. He was tall and his arms were almost as broad as Ranloo's thighs. He wore a leather cord around his neck with some kind of animal teeth attached to it, like an amulet.        He looked at Ranloo as he entered, and grinned as he saw the e

Tealas and Odefin had been talking to the colonel for hours. They weren't pleased. Several guards had been killed over the last few days, and their morale was low the colonel said. They didn't want to go out alone anymore. Taseil had been the last drop. Everyone knew that he was a brave guard, very strong and fast, skilled with the sword and not afraid of anyone. He had come back bleeding and wounded, and by his own words hadn't had a chance. The only reason he was alive was that the vampire had let him go. The other guards didn't like it and they were tired of being cannon fodder for these evil creatures.        The interesting par

Seeing his room at the guild, he remembered where he was and took a deep breath of relief. He was safe. He was home. As much of a home as he could have now, he thought. He ran a hand through his filthy hair and grimaced. Hungry. He went to the door and listened for sounds. Hearing nobody near the door he opened it and went out. He wondered if they had remembered to get an animal for him this night, and went to the next room. He opened the door and both heard and smelled the presence of a goat, but also s

Tealas and Odefin came to the arrest some time later, pale and tired. Tealas removed his hat as he entered, dripping water all over the floor and muttering about the bad weather. Odefin silently agreed, looking around the arrest as he shook some of the water off his clothes. They both spotted the wounded guard on the bench as soon as they entered. A doctor sat hunched beside him, tending to his hand and wrist, the guard looking as pale as a ghost as the doctor turned his hand and bandaged him. Taseil had removed his chainmail and the padded shirt underneath, revealing more bruises. He had a large purple bruise on his side and many sma

Sern threw a quick glance over his shoulder and saw the man running after him. Panic rising inside, the thief hurried his steps and ran as fast as he could, turning this way and that, running through narrow alleys and crossing open streets. He soon felt his lungs burn with every breath and he was too hot, sweating in the rain. He felt slow. He heard the steps closing in behind him. With every ounce of strength he had, he forced his legs to move faster. Then he felt a tug as his cloak was pulled backwards and he skidded over the slippery cobbles and fell on his back. For a moment he was stunned, lying in the street panting and trying t

It didn't take long before they heard Uli's voice screaming some distance away. Tealas immediately jumped up on his horse, uttered a prayer to Eldon to make his sun symbol shine, and set off at a gallop towards the scream. As he came close enough to see the figures fighting in the street he jumped off his horse, pulled out his crossbow and slid a bolt into the groove as fast as was humanly possible. He wouldn't get away this time, he thought. He heard the sound of approaching hooves from the other direction. Good, Odefin had come from the other side, blocking the vampire's path if he was to flee. He saw Uli swing his sword and roar at

Becoming a Legend - Chapter 6, Part 9
Lasal spent the entire morning and the better part of noon studying in the library. He read a lot about vampires, the lore behind their creation and the hunting methods commonly used to kill them. A lot was the same, stakes, holy symbols, cut off their heads and burn them. The tricky part was to get to them in the first place, to find them. More often than not it seemed to be the vampires who found you, not the other way around. That was fine, he thought to himself. He had been scared the first time he'd met the dark elf, mainly because he had acted strange and he didn't know what he was. Now he was fairly certain that his Lord would

´Stop!` Tealas roared as he saw the vampire tear up the metal grate from the street. He wouldn't let the bastard get away, not when they had finally found him. The vampire fell as the grate gave way and landed on his back in the street. Tealas lifted the crossbow and aimed at the vampire as his horse ran forward. It would be hard to hit from the horse, but he had done it before. He saw Odefin lift the sun symbol again and utter another prayer to increase the light and send another light beam at the evil creature. The dark vampire glanced their way, his glowing eyes red and wide, looking every bit like the monster he was. Then he

Ranloo was scared, his heart was beating hard and he breathed fast, even thought he didn't feel tired in any way. It was merely a reaction to his panic at being found and hunted. Hunted like a wild animal through the streets, he thought. He didn't want to die, he didn't want to be killed like this, in the street. He glanced behind him and saw the horses closing in on him in the wide, straight passage. He zigzagged to avoid the crossbow quarrels they fired at him from time to time, but it slowed him down. He grabbed a light post and used it to take a very sharp turn around a corner. It saved him a few seconds as the horses couldn't tak

I'm done!
It's finished! :D At least I think so. :faint: I mean... the first draft is finished. Now I have to edit it. A lot! It's too long, and I have to remove unnecessary scenes, fix spelling errors, remove repetitions, give the Elven kingdom a name (it's about time, isn't it? Please, give suggestions!), remove filler words (adverbs and such), check that there's no inconsistencies in the story etc. Much left to do before it's really finished. But still. I'M DONE!!!! :la: :bulletred: Question. Would you prefer daily updates on the story? Or keep it like it is now, three days a week? Since I'm finished with it, I'm going to focus on editing, and th

Almost done!
Oh my god... I don't think I ever fully considered that I might arrive at this. But I am now writing the final chapter in my book. And I can't quite believe it myself. :O_o: It's crazy to think about it. I have never in my life managed to write anything longer than around 10 pages. The longest of those stories, is the one I have now almost finished (10 years later). :O I've been writing almost every day since 2 February this year. I have found some parts hard to write, some part were easy, most of them needed/need to be edited and corrected. But I never lost the will to write, never even imagined stopping. How crazy is that? :D But I feel lik

How do you make a poll?
Do you need to be a Core member to make them? 'Cause I seem to remember having made them before... but now I can't seem to find it. Maybe I just suck? :bucktooth: Also, having a bit of anxiety here... work starts next week, and I really don't want to. :XD: I know it'll make me tired and stressed out and give me less time for the things I really love in life. Writing, art, games, friends, my snake... you know. The good stuff. So if I randomly vanish in a week, you know why. But I'll try and keep uploading stuff regularly... but it might stutter a bit. :faint: Just saying. Have a nice week! ~mv1plz (https://www.deviantart.com/mv1plz):iconmv2plz::iconmv3plz::iconmv4plz::ic
