Description

This widget just had an update - a code update just bringing it up to scratch.

The U-Boat Dual Time Clock widget is more than a pretty Yahoo widget for your desktop. The U-Boat Dual Time Clock is both functional and gorgeous at the same time.

The widget can be resized - Hover the cursor over the widget. Press the CTRL key and use your mousewheel up or down. The widget will resize dynamically. Here is just one more of over 500 steampunk icons and widgets that I have created that will leave your Windows or Mac desktop looking absolutely spiffing. There is a whole set of the little thingies and I must say they do look very steampunk indeed! They really are a suitable replacement for the boring old default icons that come with Windows/Rocketdock/ObjectDock &c.

*UPDATE* This is the Yahoo version. Why are there two versions? Well, the other Xwidget version is fine and it works well but Xwidgets can be a bit flaky especially if you are running a few of them. The Yahoo/Konfabulator versions run more smoothly and interferes far less with your system. For the Yahoo widget engine all the logic is done in XML and javascript code, in the Xwidget version there is no code required at all if you use Xwidgets built-in functions, timer, rotators &c.

I created all the graphics: hands, surround, reflections I added or created myself. It is all my code with some solid help from Harry Whitfield.

STATUS: Completed I think. Any bugs please report.

THINGS TO DO: Nothing more than a bug or two, if you find any.

It is a fully working widget. Please feel free to download it.

Running the widget using a javascript engine frees javascript from running only within the captivity of a browser, you will now be able to run these widgets on your Windows desktop as long as you have the correct widget engine installed.

The Yahoo widget engine is here g6auc.me.uk/ywidgets_sdk_setup…. These widgets work with Windows XP SP2-SP3, it has been tested on XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 and 10/11+.

Instructions:

1. Install yahoo widget SDK runtime engine - get it here: g6auc.me.uk/ywidgets_sdk_setup…
2. Download the gauge here from Deviantart
3. Unzip it
4. Double-click on the resulting .widget file and it will install and run

On OS/X it is a tiny bit more involved:

========================================================
Instructions for running Yahoo widgets on Mac OS/X, all recent versions including Sierra.

Edit the following file:

com.yahoo.widgetengine.plist which is in /Users/xxx/Library/Preferences. Look for these lines: <key>DockOpen</key>
<string>false</string>

Change to false if it is true.

Then you should be able to start Yahoo! Widgets and the menubar item should appear. Widgets can then be started from the menubar or by double-clicking them in the usual way.
