Rainmeter Skin for the Steampunk Orrery and Clock

Is this a piece of Space 1899 high tech? - perhaps the Martian attack has failed and the humans are returning to Mars for their revenge? Is it a piece of the Victorian space technology that human space farers might use in their quest for conquest of Mars?

Nope! It is simply a Rainmeter version of my previous Steampunk Orrery Widget. The Rainmeter skin is a straight conversion of the original steampunk orrery using my graphics for the front end. The clock is working, the cogs rotate and the clock tells the time. At the moment the advanced functions of the original Yahoo widget Orerry have not yet been transferred but this may yet occur... give me time.

You can download the Rainmeter widget here: www.deviantart.com/download/35…

(DA in their wisdom are hiding the download button, it is now beneath the "more like this" module, on the right...)

The hard work in converting the orerry was performed by a dedicated DA-er by the name of Mordasius: mordasius.deviantart.com/ His skills in converting the YWE! widget graphics to rainmeter have been heavily relied upon. I have a lot of learning to do for the next stage. Mordasius has also used the moon shade images from from Visions+ by sgtevmckay sgtevmckay.deviantart.com/art/… in this conversion, so credit where credit is due.

The original YWE! widget was created by myself using my graphics and the javascript code of Harry Whitfield. Harry's hard work isn't in the latest version but we worked so long and hard on the original that he needs to be credited too. The original orrery widget for the yahoo widget engine can be found here: yereverluvinuncleber.deviantar…

Mordasius' inspiration was founded upon my steampunk widget but in turn my own inspiration was based upon a superb blog navigation device on Ian Tregillis' site created by Richard Mueller of 3232 design. His superb bit of Adobe Flash was really inspirational and it made me want to complete it (the original only shows 50% of the device and was limited to running on flash only web-pages within the browser). My version will add functionality and will run on your Mac or Windows desktop. See the original here: www.iantregillis.com/index.cfm - This link won't work well on ipads or other devices that don't support flash.

Don't want to bore you with too many links but you do need to note - This widget requires Rainmeter 2.5 to operate. Download Rainmeter from here:
rainmeter.googlecode.com/files…

You may use any of my images in your own creations but commercially only with my permission. In all cases I require a credit to the original artist using my name or pseudonym and a link to my own site.

Some of these hyperlinks lead to files that do not exist. You should either redact or fix them.

nice, thank's. goog job
Beautiful, love it, but wouldn't it be terrific if it did as much as this Linux version: www.youtube.com/watch?feature=…

Yes it would and the Windows version for the yahoo widget engine does just as much, in fact a lot more.

Unfortunately, Rainmeter uses another non-standard scripting language, LUA, if it used javascript then the functionality could be ported - but it cannot.

The Linux code was written by Joke/niceway and is part javascript but mostly native QT calls. The YWE version's code was written by myself. There are two other versions, the one you have seen for Rainmeter and another for xwidget. I will never update the Rainmeter version but there is a chance I will update the Xwidget version one day as it uses similar javascript.
just got to love it

Changes not yet made it to the rainmeter and other widgets.

What a pity - mine is a 2.5ghz core2dup laptop and it is as quick as anything with the widgets.
You will need to enter your weather code (yahoo weather extended forecast in the url) and modify the hardware values for openhardwaremonitor ( must be running) to match your system.

Figured it out preview

Ok no pics the skin below and here's a rar since I've never made a skin and it may be garbage.

Really liked your steam clock and with all the open real estate  I turned mine into the steam-system-weather-punk-clock
It monitors system mhz, temps (computer & real world) servers (ping up/down) restart button for rainmeter and toggles app menu..
Since you did the hard stuff, thank you, I thought I'd post it here.. but I can't gd spam filters..

Appreciated - I like what you've done with it.

Will give it a try next time I switch rainmeter on.
Glad you like it I've added it to my profile, not sure of etiquette on stuff like this, but I've credited you and anyone I can remember that that I've cribbed for my mashup, thanks for your contrib of the cool stuff et al for the boring stuff and I guess me for squeezing ten pounds of rainmeters  into a 5 pound bag..
